Swagger, the best kind.

Also, why didn't anyone ever make a Samardzija highlight video with good music? :/

This is the only comment I have seen on IE lately that leaves me incredulous. You may be young, but you can have respect for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Who would not want "They call me the Breeze"?

swagger definition # 2--the politically correct version of the word 'milkshake'. How a person carries themself.

"Their swagger brings all the people to the yard."

This is not exactly a pump-me-up, rahrah, highlight video song, sorry. Highlight songs should be high energy, get your blood running. Nothing wrong with the song in general, it just doesn't match well with a highlight video.

i thought the definition of swagger is determined by whether your team wins or loses.

Swagger definition #3-- A way of walking, normally showing authority. To swagger is to walk with presence. There are several different kinds of swagger...
The Walmart Bag Swagger - to walk with clenched fists at waist height while swaying as though carrying heavy grocery bags in each hand.

The Terminator - To walk as though rigid, with no swaying whatsoever and as though an android on a mission.

DinGaf - ¨Do not give a f***¨ swagger - To walk without a care in the world, people get in your way... not a problem...GET SOME!

There are many more...

my thoughts on this...

1. actions speak louder than words Golden walked the walk and Floyd has also watch 2010 USC game floyd and hughes wanted it more.. if floyd wouldn't have broke is collar bone we would have been at least 10/3 in 2009 just needed to help Golden/Rudy.. Think about if Golden actually stayed this year.. easy 10 win season in 2010 easy...

2. I say playmakers have swagger actions make your hype real...

3. Lynch, Tuitt, Williams, Te'o= Irish Swagger

Along the lines of SirDishands, SeanThornton, and Kingbish's "DinGaf" definition, that reminds me of a team we were about to play when I was coaching. I think our staff was all in our 20s, with a head coach in his 40s. We were at a tiny high school playing and beating huge schools. We were 0-fer our first year, but playoff bound a couple of years later. We were actually ranked very high locally when we went to play a school that was undefeated. Their staff's youngest coach was maybe in his early 50s.

Coming "out of the tunnel," we were not very fancy. We just jogged out, did some short sprints, got loose. I was used to seeing other high schools come out with some rather gaudy and obnoxious entrances.

Well, the team we were about to play was on their home field. The announcer screamed "AND HERE COME THE EAGLES!!!! The team did not sprint through a banner, or follow the cheerleaders. They simply slowly walked to their sideline, huddled up, and lined up for the kickoff. No emotion whatsoever. They proceeded to give us the biggest thumping I had ever received as either a player or coach. They never showboated, celebrated...nothing. Mechanical and methodical.

That was impressive. That was swagger.

We kicked the **** out of them the next year in a near miraculous finish (we were down 14 with a little over a minute to go, and they had the ball on our 10, but that's beside the point). We beat them by 1.

Thank you for posting that! That's the exact play I was talking about. Golden Tate IS swagger. He made other people with swagger look swaggerless.

In fact, using the word swagger, which has been associated with mere mortals, might not be strong enough to describe Golden.

This dovetails exactly with the discussion on the other thread about the crowd noise, etc., at Notre Dame Stadium. To me, "swagger" is letting all the other pretenders to greatness have their smoke bombs and their jumbotrons and their loud, piped-in music, and their choreographed (got the feeling I really butchered the spelling on that one, maybe not) entrances, and all that, basically, bull****. While we calmly, methodically, and mercilessly grind them into compost. Almost nonchalantly. Like we've done it before--a lot. Like it's a habit.

Thanks Brother. I was so enraged during the game that I started washing dishes, dusting vents, vacuuming, fixing frayed wires, knitting, painting the kitchen...anything to calm me down....all the while peeking at the TV on every play, yet staying busy to prevent myself from kicking cute puppies. My lady sat in front of the TV, still hopeful.

Near the end of the game, I told her I could not take it anymore, so I was going to take a nap. Well, I had my little TV next to the bed. Did not miss a single play, as pissed the hell off that I was. When they made the comeback, all I could hear, almost shattered my eardrums, was my lady's unGodly ROAR, then her stomping up the steps (I seriously thought she was either going to break her legs or the stairs) as she STORMED into the room and jumped on me. DID YOU SEE THAT!!!!!! WWWWWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Yep. Think "The Quiet Man" with John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara and Barry Fitzgerald.

SirDishands, just how old do you think I am? Chuckle. I just looked it up on wiki. Guess I will have to rent it. I guess maybe I know now how our poster SeanThornton may have chosen his handle.

Unless his name is Sean Thornton.

Indubitably, my man! Some (bad) habits are hard to break. Good habits need to be cultivated and continued.

I have a great compost pile. I've not bagged a single leaf, grass clipping, vegetable shaving, egg shell or coffee ground since I moved into my place in 1983. The lawn and garden look wonderful ... except for the occasional "burn" spot where some pesky damn deer has urinated.

Recruits opening their mouths all of the time on twitter is not swagger, it's swag. And Swag is a cheap joke compared to the real thing.

Swag is something a woman does when she walks....its a combination of swaying the hips and waging the ***..... put them together and its an art form called SWAG!

Definition of swagger is standing tall with your shoulders back, you have a little strut to your walk displaying that you are the badest man alive, you have an attitude that you have worked harder and planned smarter than your opponent and he can do nothing to tame you. You are going to wreck him because you have put the sweat equity into this event and nothing can stop you... You are relaxed and have the feeling that you can take on the whole world. Swagger is also known in my opinion as quiet confidence. You can get into your opponents head without saying a word.

Tiger woods, Michael Jordan, and Greg Madux are some people that come to mind that have swagger.

Talking smack to your opponent is just the fun part of the game, not part of swagger. Some morons take smack to a whole new level because they have fear, not swagger. They are trying to puff themselves up so their opponent fears them.

I would have to say my 'new' definition of swagger contains a lot of ingredients: arrogance, ego, confidence, respect, and reverence. With that being said, someone who has swagger is one that beats the hell out of someone on the field, calls their opponent everything but human, makes them bleed, then shakes their hand at the end of it all, win or lose, and says 'well played'.

Whoever chose those plays is a joke. I hope it wasn't Jack Nolan, I like him. But some of those are not worth showing, and there are some pretty memorable ones that need to be on there. What about the Golden Tate hail Mary catch against Washington State? Or his 120 yard run, 30 yard gain against Stanford two years ago for the touchdown (I'm a Golden homer). Also, what about something from his first two games which ended up being the highlights of his college coaching career? What about the overtime game against Washington? Or the Kyle Rudolph catch at Purdue?

C'mon.
