USC: Marc Tyler awaits possible disciplinary measures - latimes.com

Now, for the 2nd alleged offense, the fans on USC's boards have claimed that our ND player 'raped' the St. Mary's coed because he touched her breasts and she said no (man, if that is considered rape, then I would've been in hot....nevermind), and that ND did nothing. So do those idiots consider what Tyler did as rape?

Whatever the case, this guy has been a royal screwup for them. He came in to spring as the obvious #1 back, with a great blend of power, vision and speed. But then he got to camp way overweight, then pulled his hammy and blamed it on the coaches, and now this. Good news for ND because I saw their other 2 backs at the spring game and they are small, scat-back types that didn't impress me much. DJ Morgan will be good in a couple of years, but he's coming off major knee surgery and won't be at full speed IMO until 2012 (he can fly).

Would Tyler be having all these problems if he had come to ND instead of USC?

With how many RBs they have on scholarship, you really think this is a big loss? What about Dillon Baxter, is he one of the little guys you were talking about?

I don't want them to have excuses to kick ANY guys off the team. I don't want them to have any more room on that roster for this recruiting class.

It will have no effect, Marc is in his last year.

USC: Marc Tyler awaits possible disciplinary measures - latimes.com

By Gary Klein L.A. Times June 3, 2011

USC tailback Marc Tyler, the Trojans' leading rusher last season, is awaiting possible disciplinary action for his alleged role in two off-the-field incidents, Tyler confirmed Friday.

Tyler, a fifth-year senior, recently appeared at a hearing before USC's Office of Student Judicial Affairs in regard to the April incidents, one in which he allegedly spit on a female student while intoxicated and another in which he allegedly inappropriately touched another female student at a bar near campus.

...

According to an incident report on USC's Department of Public Safety website, a student on April 15 "reported that an intoxicated student spat on her after she and a friend escorted him to his residence." On May 3, a report was filed for an incident that occurred April 28 at the 901 Club. "A student reported that she was sexually assaulted by another student," read the post.

...

According to the article Tyler acknowledged the first incident but disputes the second. Tyler is quoted apologizing to all parties and that he is in counseling.

I don't ever recall reading about an USC football player going before USC's Office of Student Judicial Affairs much less hear that USC had one. Perhaps all Haydens trips to the ND Press Box made an impression.

No, Baxter wasn't one of the guys I was talking about, but yeah, he kinda fits the same mold. I was talking about McNeal and Morgan. My point is for them...who is going to run between the tackles? They're basically begging for Baxter to be that kind of runner, and he started to at the end of spring, but it's still not his M.O. They want him to be a one-cut runner, and he wants to bounce. McNeal and Morgan will try run in between the tackles, but I don't see it happening consistently because they are not very big.

In a pro-style set, you need a RB like Tyler that can be tough and run downhill and punish teams. When healthy and focused, Tyler is that guy. Now, we shut him down and they didn't give the other big RB a chance (although he killed UCLA a week later), but make no mistake, USC needs that type of runner for their offense to be at full-strength (think LenDale White and Reggie Bush). If he can't get his act together, they better hope their freshman from FL (Buck Allen, I believe his name is) comes to fall camp ready to be a major player for them.

Apparently Lane Kiffin said on Sportscenter that Tyler may be suspended for the entire 2011 season.

"Yo Terelle, how's the Supplemental Draft thing work?"

He'd be out of eligibility unless he gets a medical year for '09 when he played in the first game and then was out for the season after toe surgery. He redshirted the '07 season and played in '08 and '10.

Right now he's pegged as a 6th or 7th rounder in the regular '12 draft. With a history of toe (USC), leg (HS), and hip (USC) injuries IF he missed the '11 season, I'm not think too many teams would chance a draft round for him.
