Paralyzed Rutgers Scarlet Knights football player Eric LeGrand stands up during therapy - ESPN New York

What an uplifting story. Prayers are with you Eric. Keep at it!

Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand has made another development in his recovery from paralysis.

LeGrand tweeted two photos Wednesday afternoon, showing him standing upright in therapy with his mother.

LeGrand's first tweet read: "Standing up little by little in therapy." His second tweet read: "Standing tall, we can't fall. Standing upright again."

The 20-year-old LeGrand suffered a fracture to his C3 and C4 vertebrae while making a tackle on a kickoff return against Army on Oct. 16 at New Meadowlands Stadium. At that time, doctors thought LeGrand would never come off a ventilator and would not walk again. Five weeks later, he proved them wrong by coming off the ventilator.

LeGrand, who has said he believes he'll walk again, continues to defy the odds. Last week, he tweeted: "moving the arms little by little."

It is absolutely amazing what the human body and mind can overcome. God bless him.

This is great news! This is a feel good story if there ever was one. I wish him the absolute best and hopes he makes a full recovery. This kid never gave up and vowed to walk again someday and it sure looks like his determination is paying off.

Definitely a great story, especially after reading about a polar opposite type of young adult, Adam James, this morning.

Eric will probably never read this but on the chance he does, I feel confident that all of Irish nation is pulling for you and hope to see you walk out on that field again soon!

I have a family friend who broke his C5 vertebrae in a swimming accident in the Gulf of Mexico. Hopefully he can make strides like this brave young man is doing. The friend is actually having a fundraiser held for him here soon that will be hosted partly by Ryan Kerrigan.

Anyways, it's a tough thing that LeGrand and his family are going through, I know. Eric is a tough young man with lots of people cheering for him though.

Continue to work hard at your recovery Eric. We all wish you the best and are happy of the great news.
