I don't get the love for Dark Knight. At all. Just so much not to like about it, even with Ledger's performance....which is a little bit overblown IMO.

The Godfather Trilogy, or Braveheart, or the Right Stuff, or Lonesome Dove, or Goonies, or Ghostbusters....

Right Stuff was excellent, I've seen it 50 times, gotta go with The Natural, with The Sting neck and neck.

No Goodfellas love? Surprised. I know someone said this before, but picking one favorite movie is almost impossible. Even a top 5 would be difficult. If I had to try:

1. Godfather II
2. The Usual Suspects
3. Goodfellas
4. Memento
5. Man on Fire
6. The Graduate
7. True Romance
8. Requiem For a Dream
9. The Royal Tenenbaums
10. Magnolia

And that isn't even getting into comedies, sports movies, Stanley Kubrick or Scarface, all of which are really separate categories unto themselves.

I would like to see people's top-10, actually. Much more telling than a single favorite. Anyone can get into a particular movie for any reason. A top-10 paints a picture.

A Clockwork Orange

See, this is why this is impossible. Even doing a top-10, A Clockwork Orange somehow slipped my mind (although if were doing a top-10 books it never would have). But now then I saw you mention it, and now I'm thinking it could sneak into my top-5. Kubrick could be my favorite, and A Clockwork Orange may be his best work.

Rocket-you stud- its always been a toss up for me between the Natural and Remember the Titans. But when Hobbs went to the clock at Wrigley- that seals the deal for me.

Your idea of Remember the Titans always makes me think of the one that got away. Back when I was a freshman in high school in Marietta,GA they advertised in our school that they were looking for extras in this new Disney movie being filmed at our rival high school. Well, until then Disney hadn't really done big, dramatic films yet,so I figured it would just be some stupid kid's movie....so I turned down the chance to be an extra in one of the greatest sports films ever! lol.

BTW...i am a film buff so this is a tough question to answer...howver....top 3 are
1.Rudy
2.Caddyshack
3.Pulp Fiction

7. True Romance

I thought I was the only one who liked that movie. Now THAT is my idea of a romance movie. lol.

Naming a #1 would be impossible. Lots of cool choices so far. I'll add "Shoot Em Up" as one of the more recent movies I liked, and "Jaws" one of the older movies.

Don't worry Wooly, I liked "The Notebook" too, even though I haven't seen it in its entirety yet. Oops, did I mention that Rachel McAdams is in that movie :)

Dr. StrangeLove anyone? This is Spinal Tap? Casablanca? Lake Placid? Anyone? Anyone?

Simply amazing. I was going to add "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" as a fun movie, then I turn on the tv and Scott Pilgrim is on tv. Guilty pleasure, and if you take your eyes off the movie for 2 seconds, you miss out on something funny.

The Wind That Shakes The Barley
Is an amazing independent film.
Check it out, takes places in Ireland during the war for independence and civil war in the early 19th century. Fantastic film.

My wife made me watch that...I punched her...

In all seriousness, it was a good movie...but thats two hours I could have been watching Rudy...

I'd rather be tased and forced to wear a scUM jersey than sit through that muck ever again! I'm sure your wife is an amazing and wonderful lady, so don't misunderstand me, I JUST HATE THE NOTEBOOK. ;)

Phooey...trying to think of a favorite movie is HARD. I love so many. I'm doing a top 10 list too.

1. The Usual Suspects
2. American Beauty
3. A Time to Kill
4. Apocalypse Now
5. Schindler's List
6. Super Troopers
7. Full Metal Jacket
8. The Godfather
9. The Family that Preys
10. The Shawshank Redemption

OMG I could make a top 100 list I love movies

One of the best movies ever! I'm still surprised that there are people out there that haven't even heard of it.

It was a big movie for us in college, when part of the appeal was still that is was basically an "underground" movie. The fact that it was not released in theaters allowed it to remain a well-kept secret for a little while, but by now anyone that would like it has probably seen it. Willem Defoe is spectacular in that movie. It doesn't get much critical acclaim because it really isn't "art", its just kind of cool and has a cult following. Very similar to Scarface in a that way. (And for the gratuitous gunfire.)
