What does everyone have going on for the weekend?

Today my wife and I went from work and had dinner at Olive Garden. Delicious. Then I will go out with some buddies down the street at a local bar called The Distillery. Pry end up walking home. Saturday we will head back to her home town for her nieces bday party and her dads Fathers Day bash. Sunday will be my dads.

On a sad note, I got word that my grandma passed today. Not trying to be a debbie downer. She was a fantastic woman. I thought I'd bring it up because her and her husband, my grandpa, who passed away 14 years ago got me on Notre Dame. My grandpa was a huge ND fan which got my dad on it and now me. Grandma's brother is also a huge fan and has gone to Ireland to watch the Irish. They use to take the train over to South Bend to watch the games. It just brought back the memories.

Just thought I'd make a thread where we can share our weekend plans.....make the IE a little more personable.

Sorry to hear about your Grandma. She's up in heaven looking down on you & the Irish with your Grandpa!

As for my weekend, it's my last weekend home before I go off to college Wednesday so I'm gonna do it big (by big, I mean seeing all my friends who are staying home or going other places).

What type of music/instrument do you play?

Sorry for your loss!

I will be spending my Saturday fly fishing for trout, in a cold mountain stream.

Just got out of the pool. As soon as my kids go to bed I might have a daiquiri. Tomorrow we are going to a dance recital, and then Sunday it's a big BBQ at my dad's house for Father's day. Which is kinda my day too because I am a single mother. My dad tries to "dad" all of us, and the best part is, he isn't really biologically my dad, but he filled the role for me, and now he's trying to be influence on my kids. Great man, that guy is. :)

My condolences on your loss.

Everyone enjoy your weekend and your father's day celebrations.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK BERY!!! Olive Garden is an INSULT to Italian food. They invent their own ****ing words for foods and try to make them sound Italian even though they AREN'T REAL THINGS!!!

Sorry about your grandma. That sucks man. The silver lining is that she is in a better place now.

I'm personally headed to the US Open tomorrow. Should be fun. Apparently we're not allowed cameras, cell phones, umbrella cases, etc. though because they could be used as detonators or some bullshit. Too many heads of state coming to watch this tourney with it being at Congressional. According to my dad security was ridiculous on Thursday.

Tonight I'm getting schwasted with some people... and I'm already halfway there. Have a good weekend everyone! And GO IRISH!

Nice to see another fly fisherman on the board. We should start an unlimited fly fishing report thread. I'm currently in the airport waiting to fly out to Michigan in an attempt to catch the hex hatch on the Au Sable. Should be a killer time.

Bery - sorry for your loss, dog. I lost my grandma last summer. Try to remember the good times and the great life she got to live. We only do this life thing once, so celebrate the one she accomplished.

Should anyone spot IrishLax at the Open tomorrow, let out a loud and hardy "FORE!" to warn unsuspecting bystanders.

I agree with your assessment of Olive Garden, Lax. Not a bad place if you go simply for Martinis and baskets of breadsticks.

All kidding aside, Bery, I'm sorry to hear of your Grandma's passing.

I'm heading out for a round of golf tomorrow morning with some buds, most of them Dads. As for Father's Day, I expect my son to call to offer to take me out to dinner for a Jucy Lucy, fries and a beer or two at Matt's Bar.

I've heard good things about those Michigan rivers. I need to get up there sometime. I guess I'll add it to my list, my very long list.

Just got back from the IHSAA 1A Baseball Finals. Team I used to coach played in the game. Now my weekend plans consist of beer, White Sox games, and a family get together on Sunday.

Have a good weekend, fellers.

OP: I'm sorry for your loss. Have a good weekend.

My sympathies concerning your Grandma. All is gift for just a little while, but no matter how much we come to that realization, it's always hard.

I'm pretty versatile when it comes to my musical tastes, but aside from rap, hip-hop, whatever you want to call that crap, I've never been able to get into modern country much. I really like the old stuff (Hank Sr., Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, etc.) and the "outlaw" genre (Waylon and Wille, David Allen Coe, etc.). But, my wife likes all that new country stuff.

Anyway, our daughter got mom 2 tickets to see Brad Paisley tommorow in Noblesville, IN. So, I'm on the hook to go to that. I've been having a good time tormenting the wife tonight about going to see "Bart Parsley" tomorrow, and about how I need to run over to the store and get some cowboy shirts and a hat and boots, along with knocking out most of my teeth, so I'll fit in. Practicing my "hell, yeah!" and "Git er Done" and "hee-haw" shouts all night. Now, she's threatenng to get up early and leave without me before I get out of bed. But, she won't.

She's having a Father's Day party for me Sunday. I don't deserve her.

Have fun with the 14-23 year old female crowd...plus their mothers...plus their boyfriends and husbands. Brad Paisley is ok, as far as current country goes, but he definitely isn't one of my favorites.

Speaking of The Olive Garden, it's crazy because one of my students gave me a $30 gift card to that restaurant, so my wife and I went there for lunch today of all days LOL. I haven't been there for at least over a decade (probably longer), but I knew it wasn't authentic Italian that my wife and I love, and I warned her beforehand. I played it safe and got the lasagna, and it was pretty meh. My wife liked her alfredo fettucini okay.

Having said that, I had no idea there was all you can eat salad or soup and bread sticks, and the soup i got was the bomb. When the waitress asked if I wanted to try a different soup, I got kinda annoyed that she was trying to sell me more soup (my wife laughed and explained the all-you-can-eat deal to her stupid husband). So I had another bowl of soup. Hell, I hardly touched my lasagna and so I took it home for dinner. So b/c of that, I ain't mad at Olive Garden. Certainly in L.A. there are TONS better Italian places, but you get a lot of bang for your buck there.

Tomorrow celebrating my niece's graduation from high school and her scholarship to a small school in Minnesota to play soccer. This is a beach girl who is actually looking forward to the cold! Sunday, eating lunch with my pops and my brothers.

Sorry for your loss bro.

Enjoy the weekend everybody!

Actually, it's called Southwestern Minnesota State University, a tiny D2 school in Marshall, wherever the hell that is. As of 2 days ago, she was nervously waiting for the NLI to arrive in the mail, but the coach assured her she it was coming.

Like I told her, it might not be UCLA or ND or UNC, but it's a scholarship and something to be really proud of...

Mustangs, eh? Nice area, I considered going to school there.

Cherish the memories.

Counseled yet again my arguing neighbor couple. He is from South Bend, she is from Cali.

Sunday, I will call my father, and then attempt to do nothing.
