I bolded the OL in the draft to show what everyone always talks about when it comes to OL recruiting, it is just very hard to project OL prospects.

Very nice work sir. This list provides much insight into the inherent flaws with recruiting rankings (inexact science), and how some programs consistenly coach players into the NFL.

nice work, and remember none of these first rounders have played a down yet. also draft and recruit to the system you run. rankings mean nothing, fun, but coaching is everything. now can we please get some running backs. i don't care who.

I didn't start following recruiting till last year, but just curious if ND was high or recruited any of these first rounders hard? Anyone know?

The ones I can say for sure we went hard after were Nate Solder (Colorado) and Jonathan Baldwin (Pitt). If I can remember correctly, we were in both of their final 2 or 3 schools. I'm sure we went after a lot of the other studs from this class, but I don't remember us having a real shot with any of the others. One cool thing to do is go to Rivals.com and it's pretty easy to check out old recruits classes and rankings. You can even access individual player's recruiting profiles from the past.

This list also demonstrates why ND having academic standards and not taking JUCOs is a HUGE disadvantage. Whereas Alabamas, Auburns, USCs, etc. can hand pick filler guys who (after not having to spend scholarships developing them through redshirt and early years) can step in and play right away at a high level.

People wonder why ND often doesn't measure up to its recruiting class ranks... it has a lot to do with the reasons people typically mention but it also has to do seriously with the fact that we RARELY have any transfers join our team and we never, ever get a JUCO. Those impact players don't show up on the ranking sheets.
