His facebook he seemed excited about the offer. Says ACT came in offered by Notre Dame. So maybe it was grades holding the staff back from offering.

Um...

Confusion usually is.

I was joking BTW.

He had previously mentioned information he had obtained from ISD, I believe. I then commented his information to be of solid breadth, since everything is speculation until a commit occurs that all major recruiting services agree.

We then had a disconnect, in which I had to explain myself. I then used my service, for which I subscribe, to place information that nearly paralleled his so he would understand my intent in using his information to answer another poster's question, minus the announcement date.

Then I made out, I mean made up with him. ;)

Yeah I gotcha. I was joking, too. Although I was confused. And yeah, work does suck.

Going to throw it out there that the staff has been talking to him for awhile and there is no telling what kind of relationship he has with Kelly/how he feels about ND.

What we do know is that he really liked the guy at Syracuse (as did Ishaq... he said he had a great bond). So my guess is that he is going to do some soul searching on where he sees himself and make a decision next week. I think it is 50/50 but will put my money on Irish unless he really feels super strong about his relationship with the 'Cuse coaches... and maybe they have "promised" him early PT.

When all is said and done, Syracuse will never be more than a middling team in the worst conference in America... in an area with worse weather than South Bend... further away from home... and offers a less valuable degree. At Notre Dame you get to stay close to home, get an amazing education and (likely) compete for BCS games every year... and instead of playing in half-full Big East stadiums and never getting on TV you get to play in front of sell-outs + IRELAND + national TV every single week.

Just too many reasons for him to stay in South Bend, play in front of his family and be a local hero. I think he ends up Irish.

that's real, job sucks, hot as hell in charlotte!

Did you pray for us? It's raining here. A thunderstorm just set-in. First measurable precipitation in nearly 200 days.

The 'Cuse thing: Sooner or later they will get a big recruit from us, as they appeal to several of our recruits each cycle it seems.

I respect them. They offer a solid education.

I hope this Irish offer wasn't a chip to get off of his shoulder for locals. Let's hope it's a dream of his...

I'm hoping, and I'd guess due to the change in announcement for his decision, and the fact he now has the last offer from his top 5 we are the team to beat.

It is hard to think of a scenario in which it would be rational for him to go to Syracuse rather than Notre Dame. Unless he really, REALLY wants to be a broadcaster or he dislikes his parents. A few extra snaps as an 18 year old wouldn't be good enough for me.

I'm surprised nobody thinks that his decision to announce so soon after getting an ND offer bodes well for us. Maybe I'm just totally missing the boat.

Is that one of his interests?

The funny thing is... and I know Syracuse's broadcast journalism is supposed to be all that and a bag of potato chips... but one of my best friends plays lacrosse their right now and is trying to be a broadcaster. He says there are so many people that try to do that at 'Cuse that its really hard to actually "make it" and that he, and a lot of other kids, are regretting choosing it as a major/have dropped it because of that.

Syracuse is a really solid school. Great basketball school, the best lacrosse school... but it is very mediocre in everything football, has worse weather than ND, is far away and plays in the worst BCS conference around. Apples to apples, got to like ND's chances.

I have no idea. I'm just saying, why else would you punish your soul by living in freaking Syracuse, NY? Can't think of a worse place to be. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Just a gross, gross piece of land.
