Couldn't find any information on the board on this player, so I offer this: According to a recent ISD story, some interest is building for the services of Pace, a 6'3', 285 lbs defensive tackle. He is now beginning to get offers from teams like Illinois, Pitt, and Cincinnati. All of these teams want to recruit him as a defensive end type player. He says, however, that he is really hoping for a Notre Dame offer, and has been asked by Coach Warriner to attend camp. He also says that Notre Dame sees him as a defensive tackle rather than a DE. [This, by the way, again says something to me about our priorities on D-Line recruiting]. Pace says he has always been a Notre Dame fan, and that includes the academic side.

p.s. this young man plays for Glenville in the Cleveland area.

p.p.s. some of the writing out there is obscure. Replace Pitt with West Virginia and Cincinnati with Syracuse as to actual offers to date, but keep the comments about their interests and the DE positioning. Allegedly OSU had been talking to him [who knows now, and who knows if our stepped-up contact is related?]. Michigan and MSU supposedly also interested.

GPA is way over three. Squat is 545 lbs. [do not see any relation between those two things, but like both of them].

I was wondering when someone would put something up on this kid. OMM, you should update your post with all of his info (just pull it from the recruiting sites). From the sounds of the ISD article, we would probably be his favorite if we offered. He said that he roots for ND.

Anybody know what the reservations are on this kid? He has interest from major schools (ND, scUM, OSU, Michst, Cinci, etc) but only one BCS offer (Illini)? I also cant seem to find any star ratings on him. He plays in a major HS football area, so I know its not because of lack of exposure. Bizarre.

Check out his reported bench and squat under 'statistics'. He could be a diamond in the ruff!

Pace didn’t have any offers in March, but got five in one week and is now up to double-digits.

Pace, who plans on attending next month’s camp, grew up as a fan of the Irish.

“I know it’s a great program,” he said. “Ever since I was a little kid, I looked up to Notre Dame. I know the quarterback from the Browns, Brady Quinn, went there. They have a great running back now. The team overall, I root for the Fighting Irish.

“Just the way they play. Each year it’s like they’re the underdogs and that’s the kind of team I like to play for, a team that just shows people.”

Pace said an offer from the Irish would be “great.” He’s also familiar with the academic aspect of Notre Dame and it appeals to him, “I make sure I stay on top of my academics.”

Could Pace prove to be one those elusive "true" NTs? Never seen a picture of him, so I have no clue what his frame is like, but it seems that most college NTs are well over 300 lbs in high school, so maybe not.

“Just the way they play. Each year it’s like they’re the underdogs and that’s the kind of team I like to play for, a team that just shows people."

Sign of the times: recruits see ND as a scrappy underdog. Sadly, I can't argue with them.
