I trust that the man who made stars out of a 2* RB (Mardy Gilyard) and a 2* WR (Armon Binns) can make a star out of a 3* WR, too.
Off topic, but how did Binns not get drafted?

Before you guys go jumping on him, EliteScouting has posted stuff of Jordan Prestwood and Aaron Lynch before and liked both those players for us (even though Prestwood eventually decommitted). He's seen Ferguson play live, which nobody here has done, and gave an honest opinion, which is welcomed here.
Scouts disagree on players all the time, and no scout is ever always right. Hopefully "Elite" is wrong here and others, including BK and staff, are right. No one will know for a long time. But we can hope for a strong senior season from Ferguson so he can put any doubts about his game to rest...
^This... and he clearly state he is a top 10-15 WR... so I don't understand wtf people are raging about.
To be fair, he says a top 10-15 in Florida, not in the country.
watch his film he is much faster than 4.8 and he is reporting between 4.5 and 4.6 right now

sweet sweet sweet! Yes! I was hoping we'd pick up a decent sized WR to replace Michael.this is great! I hope hes not the last tall WR we get.
It's not like we haven't been landing these type of guys.
DaVaris Daniels has been listed as high as 6'4", and George Atkinson is a 6'1"/6'2" guy, as well.
We had him at a 4.8 40...and I think that is pretty accurate. He needs to work on his speed.
Average Florida WR this year...you never know who is gonna blow up though. All in all it's a good take for you guys I think.
A South Florida HS Sports organization had these comments: "size", "athletic", "ability to get open", "possession receiver", "can get it done in the classroom". --- sounds good to me.
A Miami Herald football blog said: 6'2", 205, 4.5 forty, and grew up entirely in Philadelphia before coming to Florida last year, and was happy to go back north to play his college ball.
He was on ISD power hour tonight. Seems like a really good kid. RKG in my book.
Dang it, I ALWAYS forget about those power hours...
You can still listen to them if you miss them. Believe they are on Itunes as well.
Having followed the Fighting Irish since 1966, I suspect I'm a bit grayer at the temples than many of you fine folks that post on this site. I can still hear Lindsey Nelson voicing his excitement over a Hanratty to Seymour pass completion...but I digress. In the not so distant past, 4 and 5 star recruits seemed to stand in line waiting for offers to become part of the ND legacy. And frankly, I, like many Irish fans, became a little spoiled. For years it seemed like a top 5 recruiting class was a given - we rarely, if ever lost a top prospect from a Catholic high school anywhere in the country. I'm understating the obvious when I say things have changed in a last decade; recruiting is more competitive than ever, and it's truly become a big business. However, we, being the fans we are, sometimes find it difficult to understand (and accept) why we can't hand pick the recruits we want to represent our team and school. (We have 8 national championships for pete's sake!)
Then a recruit like Justin Ferguson comes along, who hasn't been anointed as a concensus 4 or 5 star prospect by all the supposed recruiting experts, and we begin to sweat and have anxiety attacks. This is where I take a deep breath, enjoy a sip from a fine cabernet, and put my faith in BK, Diaco, Alford, et al. to make the right choices... and here's why:
While Rivals, Scout, ESPN, The Ringer, etc. provide a definite value, their rankings tend to be based solely on athletic ability. Coach Kelly and his staff (much like former Oregon Duck coach Mike Bellotti and his staff) have their own "star system" for ranking players, and while it certainly includes a propect's athletic ability, it also includes many intangibles like character, community involvement, former teacher interviews, teammate perception, scholarship, and desire to be part of, and belief in the ND system. Our coaches have forgotten more about recruiting than I'll ever know. So in a nutshell, I'm supremely confident that Justin Ferguson (like ND's other 2012 commits) ranks very highly in the only "star system" that truly matters.
Go Irish!
