As mentioned above he is suppose to be at ND for the spring game. He also wants to visit FSU, Bama, South Carolina, and Auburn. He seemed excited about the Auburn offer. We might also have to update his offer list, he has 28 now.

I'd be excited if the defending national champs offered me. I'd also be excited if they offered me money to play. Doesn't mean I'd take it though.

ESPN article on Darby:

Under Armour All-American Ronald Darby (Oxon Hill, Md./Potomac) is one of the nation's fastest and most coveted prospects in the Class of 2012. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder finished the indoor track season as the nation's fastest runner in the 200- and 100-meter sprints. To date, he has 28 scholarship offers, his most recent from the national champion Auburn Tigers.

"It feels real good to have 28 [offers] and to get one from a team like Auburn," Darby said. "I never thought I would be in the position and I couldn't have done it without the help of the coaches here. They have been terrific and they got me a lot of exposure."

Ronald Darby's speed has schools from all over competing for his services. Darby has put himself in position to not only be one of the most sought after recruits on the East Coast but the entire country. It's something he and his coaches have worked hard at and it's something they covet.

"Ronald brings a lot of competition to our football team," Potomac coach Ronnie Crump said. "A lot of our kids want to be just as good as Ronald and they all want to compete against him and get better. We used to shy away from the recruiting thing but with the type of position he's in you can't ignore it. We have to be responsible because he's in the spotlight."

North Carolina was the first to offer Darby following his freshman season and Maryland wasn't too far behind. Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida, FSU, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC and many more have offered since. So far he has visited only Maryland. Darby plans to attend the Notre Dame spring game on April 16.

"I know I also want to check out Florida State, Alabama and South Carolina for sure," Darby said. "And now I also want to check out Auburn."

For Potomac this past season Darby played cornerback, safety, running back, receiver, kick returner and place-kicker on field goas. He rushed for 1,369 yards and 23 scores offense, recorded 47 tackles on defense as well as three interceptions (two returned for touchdowns). Darby also returned a punt and kickoff for touchdowns.

"Ronald Darby is the deluxe package," Potomac coach Ronnie Crump said. "He has electrifying speed and the uncanny ability to make the big play on offense, defense and on special teams. He's a great teammate and a great young man. Right now, he relies on his speed. He needs to learn how to read eyes and body language and that will come to him if he wants to survive in college."

He also just finished the indoor track season, which he said he started doing as a freshman just to stay competitive, and now he's gearing up for outdoor track. Last year he ran 10.5 in the 100 meters, 21.2 in the 200 meters and finished as the state champ in both events.

"Teams are recruiting me as an athlete," he said. "I have great speed to play cornerback and I play the ball well. Most coaches do see me as a defensive player but I can also play in the slot and run the ball."

While Darby doesn't have any aspirations to one day become an Olympian, he does plan on playing football and running track in college. However, his priorities are football first and track second.

"Right now I don't have a favorite school. I will make my decision after I see schools. I am looking where I can play football and run track," Darby said. "The coaching staff will be important and I want to pick a college that I am comfortable with."

Ronald Darby, a UA All-American, has the kind of speed all schools covet. - ESPN

The thing to worry about is that he wants to run track too. A guy like him who is great in track will want a warm weather city to run in. If he continues to feel that football is his #1 love then ND is in great shape but if track is a major issue then it'll be hard to pass up the southern schools.

ummmmmmm.... no....

Oregon has one of the greatest (if not the single greatest) track programs of all time. Running in a good indoor facility > running outside... and as of a couple years ago Loftus had the biggest and best indoor track in the region. Still might be the best, but I know for sure when I was there that ND hosted all kinds of track meets because our track was awesome.

There are tons of reasons track kids typically end up at southern party schools, however, one of them is not wanting to run outside.

If he loves track he should goto Baylor.

Baylor doesn't have the best 1 2 punch with Football. LSU, Florida and Tennessee for example would be those kind of schools. I know ND is in the mix but if he is truly thinking about track then those would be the types of schools that he would most be interested in IMO.

Oregon has a strong tradition in track with middle and distance runners not sprinters. The top sprinters stay south or west like USC.

Sign him and give him a shot at what ever position he wants. If he works out at DB, so be it.

Sapp over at Blue and Gold thinks we have a good chance at reeling this kid in early. Let's hope so. I love play makers like this kid.

He's bringing two coaches with him.

Man, his highlight tape makes him look really fast, and he's playing on absolute slop.

More updates in discussion between Sapp and Lemming

More updates in discussion between Sapp and Lemming

• Lemming thinks we have a great shot at Darby. He describes him as having skinny legs, as do most fantastic track guys. He called him an international star in track. He mentioned the kind of speed Notre Dame hasn’t seen since the likes of since Ismail. Fits ND perfectly- if ND plays it right, he may commit on the spot.

• Darby is the key this weekend and will be one of the keystones for this class’s early get go.

247 sports is legit. I recommend for those that can afford the premium at B&G, pick up an account.

Will Biggers, Jason Sapp, among the others are really nice guys and legit. Their knowledge and insight is great. Their forum is not quite as good as ours here, but when the staff speaks (writes) up over there, it's worth reading...

One analyst says there's an 'outside chance' Watch Lister could commit. per espn

Landing Darby will pull in several right behind him. I think will also throw us in a strong lead for Marshall. Yes, strong lead. Just my take and who the hell am I? A no body.

Great stuff man.
I think we make too much of a big deal of the weather. Sometime it is a factor, but kids that end up at ND are aware of what the weather going to be like during their career. If Ronald wants to be at ND, the weather is not going to stop that from happening. Look at what happened with Manti.

Darby came into SB with two of his coaches. I'm betting it was one of them. It's great he's paling around with DD...

I think I read earlier that he wants to play DB, but dayuuummmm..... I would let this kid compete any where he wanted to.

I would love to see this kid get on the weights and be an option for us at RB. He plays at an insane speed.
