I'm officially throwing Mike Golic's name into the fold for replacing Mayock. A boy can dream.

Golic was terrible as a NFL announcer. Maybe he'll be better representing his alma mater. Does this mean that Mayock can't do ND games anymore?

Maybe I missed something, but does this necessarily mean that he cannot or will not continue to do ND games? The story does not say that he is leaving NBC or that he will no longer do ND games. Maybe that was supposed to be inferred and was so obvious there was no reason to write it, but if so I wish they wouldn't assume people like me know how that stuff works.

I guess since it's just Thursday night games he should still be available...
God willing, he sticks around.

What are you guys talking...Why wouldn't Mike Mayock still be doing ND games. He can do NFL on Thursday night and do notre Dame football Saturday.

Do you think he lives in Indiana full-time during the ND football season? This isn't the '50s. Guys fly from one job to another all the time, frequently working on back-to-back days. The fact that, with the NBC gig, one of the teams is the same every time doesn't hurt either. Makes preparation much easier.

Um...Kurt Herbstreit travels across the country on the same day for ESPN half the time. Game day might be at Alabama and then he has to fly to USC for a game to announce that night.
