We wont win at Uconn. I hope to hell we do because we need to start learning how to win other than at home.

A couple weeks ago I had this chalked up as a 100% loss. But UConn is absolutely struggling now that teams have figured out how to slow down the one man show of Kemba Walker. If Hansbrough stays out of foul trouble ND can win. If Hansbrough picks up 2 fouls or more in the first half ND loses. The game hinges on him being able to play Walker tough and contest shots.

Notre Dame-Connecticut Preview - March 4, 2011 - NCAA Division I Mens Basketball - CBSSports.com

...
The eighth-ranked Fighting Irish have lost their last seven road games to No. 16 Connecticut, which will be honoring Kemba Walker and two seniors Saturday at Gampel Pavilion.
...

Hansbrough scored 21 points while Walker had 19 in the Irish's 73-70 home win Jan. 4. Notre Dame had a more balanced attack with four starters reaching double figures compared to two for UConn.

...

The Huskies have dropped three of four after Wednesday's 65-56 loss at West Virginia. They are shooting 39.5 percent in that stretch after hitting 37.3 percent against the Mountaineers and getting outrebounded 34-30.

"They out-toughed us," coach Jim Calhoun said. "We needed to play physically inside and get some rebounds. We made some very poor choices on offense and we didn't do a good job the whole game of taking away their post play."
...

In the past two weeks the Huskies have lost @ Louisville by 13, lost 7 to Marquette at home, beat Cincinnati by 8 at home, and lost by 10 to WVU on the road. They've lost 3 times at home this season to Louisville, Cuse, and Marquette.

Hmmm. You are right for the most part BUT its still on the road in a hostile environment. I guess we'll hafta wait and see. Go Irish anyway. I'm fixin to drink a Guinness with a shot of Jamison.

I went to this game 2 years ago in Storrs. Same situation, Senior Day etc. UCONN was rockin in Gampel Pavillion. That was when Harrongody was there and Uconn beat them.

That was then, this is now

Uconn is fading like an old mexican t shirt. Not sure who will win but gotta roll with my boys. (UCONN)

Weather the storm early. I've seen senior days go bad for teams also, a lot of distractions...pressure to win the 'last' game @ home. Obviously chances are slim they play as good as they did Wed., but cripe I'll even take half that performance and like our chances...I can live with 10 threes! We showed great D Wed which I thought was most impressive...LAX hit it on the head...Benny can't get in foul trouble. Carlton Scott needs to show up also.

This is essentially Hansbrough vs. Walker for Big East POY. I think Hansbrough shows up and leads us to the win. Abro's also confident again which is completely the opposite of how he ended last year.

I think your seriously under appreciating what Hardy has done for St. Johns. I think he is just as much in the hunt for player of the year in the Big East as anyone else.

BOOOOOO YOU SUCK!

Haha. This is a tough game for me. I grew up in Connecticut. I know a lot of the coaching staff and former players from camps and the Storrs community. UConn was my first basketball love, but I'm good either way. I'd like to see both teams do well in the Big East/NCAA tourneys.

In my opinion, that is the coaches work. Hardy is a beast but he may not even make 1st team big east unless they have 6 players again.

I think id vote marshon brooks over Hardy if it were just those 2 for POY

Hardy has scored over 30 like two or three times this year in games that were decided by 10 points or less against higher ranked teams. I agree that as a team St. Johns has improved dramatically, but without Hardy they are not in the top 25.

Also let me add that my vote is for Kemba Walker. I just don't think this game between ND and Uconn and more importantly Walker/Hansbrough, will decide the player of the year award. Brooks and Hardy are two very good players in this conference. Normally I do think the award is handed out to the best player on one of the best teams and thats why Brooks is on the outside looking in. I think it's a three star race between Kemba Walker, Ben Hansbrough, and Dwight Hardy.

If it is looked at soely based on statistics, it was to be Kemba Walker. not only that but he is playing with such a young team. Oriakhi is only a sophmore and that goes along with freshman Jeremy Lamb, Roscoe Smith, and Shabazz Napier. It's a very young team that was supposed to finish 10th in the Big East.

And if they lose today, tenth is where they could finish in the Big East.

Anyway, I agree, I'm not sure how they choose. Do they base it on importance to tea as well? I agree Hardy could get some votes. I just think its down to hansborogh or walker. I like Hansborough to win it since he has been the main cog for ND.

Also- I love marshon brooks so I'm partial. (That's an edit)

Kemba is hot early and not forcing it.

The Ben/Kemba matchup looks good early

Hansbrough = FEELING IT!

The stars have certainly showed up in this one. Early makings of a classic Big East showdown.

Yeah this game is not heading in a good direction now. Our defense is porous, we're not rebounding well and Hansbrough has 2 fouls. Both were questionable calls.

Nice... That's the way to start the 2nd. Let's end it on the same note.
