It doesnt make sense for anyone to say that Dayne Crist WILL or WILL NOT start. Not a single person on this board has any idea the outcome at this point. We've spoke about Andrew Hendrix, whom none of us have seen on a college football team and Everett Golson who is an incoming freshman. Let things play out through the spring. As for the Heisman watch list, I'd almost have Manti and Floyd on their before Crist. Slight sarcasm involved obviously but it's a fairly bold PREDICTION.

We don't know the extent of the layoff with the Crist injury or how it will affect his ability to produce. And calling Rees nothing more than a glorified backup is a joke. For what he helped do for this team last year he deserves more respect than that. I have no clue at this point who will start and neither does anyone else. There are alot of unknown variables right now. I don't see Crist being on this list come mid-season, even if he starts.

Heismanpundit is very legit when it comes to the Heisman, to suggest otherwise is crazy. However, he has a series of rules as to who has a chance to win, and Dayne is on the list simply because he fits "the mold". There's lots of people on that list who would have to be considered extreme longshots, but they fit his mold, and I would bet that the ultimate winner comes from that list.

^this. 100% agree. Rees is a whole lot more than just a glorified backup. Extremely insulting and very inaccurate.

I don't think Crist will be on the list either, but it will be very interesting to find out who starts and what happens. Think we're all very excited about this season :)

Straight up... no one has an y idea what will happen. Crist could be totally healthy, have a monster year and win the Heisman. That's very plausible. It's also very possible he doesn't make it back from this injury and Rees is the starter. Maybe Rees puts on some weight this year, matures and comes out guns blazing in 2011. Weirder things have happened. Or maybe Hendrix supplants both of them.

My point is that anyone here suggesting who is better or what will happen or using other definitive language is fooling themselves. Once we start getting some spring practice reports we might be able to have a more informed debate, but right now literally anything is possible.

The perfect post!

Had someone told me in 2004 that Brady Quinn was an early heisman candidate I would have laughed them out of the room. In 2005 Brady Quinn finished 4th in heisman voting. In 2006 Brady finished 3rd.
No, he wasn't coming off an injury. He was coming off a sub-par sophomore campaign at QB, though. I just don't see this as a ridiculous assumption

I fully agree. There has been for the past 15+ years too much hype for this guy or that guy.
Let's win some games and let nature take its course.
