Players who have been rewarded 5th year status:
Mike Ragone
Gary Gary
Harrison Smith

Emeka Nwankwo has been informed he wont be back. Best of luck in the future. You are always Irish

No word yet on Andrew Nuss, Matt Romine, Taylor Dever
Man that has to be tough news for Nwankwo to hear. Best of luck to the young man though!

Dever wasn't automatic??

I'm guessing it has to be academic scheduling conflicts for his classes next year.

No other reason.

I know it has been all over the media, but add Ruffer in there too.

I hope Dever comes back, looks like Romine, Nuss, and Wenger are all waiting to see if we get Niklas/Huggins

With Schwenke's emergence and Hafis' availability at DE, Nwankwo had to guess this was coming---still sad---wish we could always do everything.

It's tough to follow these guys through recruiting and all that and then never see them pan out. Best of luck to Nwankwo.

Emeka will be fine with his ND degree. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Selfishly wish he was coming back just to witness Hammond attempting to pronounce his name in the fall and failing miserably.

Gary is kinda surprise to me. I would much rather have Dever. He didn't play lights out out but he was ok. The only good thing he brings is experience.

Gary didn't surprise me, we desperately need him in our secondary. He did very well this year.

The team needs Gary Gray. They are extremely thin at CB. The depth chart reads: Starters: Gray, Blanton
Nickle: Lo Wood
All other CB are true freshman coming in. Gary Gray is much needed.

Yeah not sure I get why Gray would be a surprise. It would have been shocking if he didn't return. I never got the sense there was any chance he wouldn't be back.

Mike Ragone
Gary Gary
Harrison Smith
David Ruffer

I am not surprised that any of these players received their 5th years.

Gary, Dever, Smith, and Ruffer I saw as locks. I'm surprised by Raggone and wouldn't be surprised if any of the others yet to be reported go or stay.

I know a lot of people are surprised that Ragone is back. I for one am not surprised at all, especially since Rudolph left. Ragone is by far our best blocking TE on the team. Also, Welch and Koyack are young players and Golic isn't very good. I'm glad to have Mike back on the team and repping the North East.

At first I was like- Ragone? However he is a tough kid and deserves another year while mentoring the younger TEs.

I agree with Ragone, however, how do you know Golic isn't very good? Kid is on schollie just like the others...

Not suprised by Gray, although it's just a situation of need, not want. I always thought Gary underachived a bit. But hey, it's nice to have a 5th yr at CB. He's a solid player.

Ragone is a great blocker and Ruffer is the most consistant kicker in CFB. Smith is our best secondary player. So no brainers on those 3.

Dever should come back, but I don't know.
