SIAP- Just curious, as I've been following recruiting more this year than last and wonder what service (Rivals, Scout, Espn...) is the best? Between Mike Frank and BGI, and Yahoo Sports now part of Rivals, reading can get overwhelming... It seems that the gurus' opinions vary and I'm looking forward to the latest rankings to be updated. Is it best to just get Phil Steele's preview magazine which averages the rankings? Whats your reco for the most accurate or reliable source? Thanks and Go Irish!

Truth! Or the fella who has amare stoudemire as his avatar, cant remember his screen name
I think you are referring to Ironman8 . if so that guy is also good.

Anyway, I used to think Rivals was the best, but I'm leaning towards ESPN now. When ESPN first came out with rankings they had some issues, but the last couple of years they have been spot on. Also, I find Scout's ranknings laughable.

ESPN and Rivals tend to be very close to each other. Imho, Rivals has better "experts" and insight. I don't pay for any subscriptions though since I feel IE has more than enough information.

CoachD on ISD is excellent in his film analysis.

Pete Sampson and Tim Prister on Rivals are very good.

Have to give props to TerryTate, BGIF, NDinLA, The Polish Irishman, Irish Man 3, Jason H, Johnnykillz, and KPENN (my apologies if I forgot anyone, which is likely). Those guys do a lot to ensure everyone on this site has the most informative, accurate, and extensive recruiting threads by compiling from all the different sites. I think they all deserve recognition and reps for doing so.

With that being said, I agree with Terry that Rivals and ISD are the best out there for your money. It's probably best to take all the information available in with appropriate grains of salt, and use your own judgement on grading or ranking recruits rather than relying on one site over another.

II, ISD and there is a new site 247 that gets a lot of stuff. If you are looking for the latest news on recruiting there is really no better option. Each staff has better connections to different recruits so each site will break news on certain recruits earlier than others.

I think ESPN is the best. They have more resources to pour into the recruiting process. I think Rivals is the next best but they have some inaccurate information at times that turns me off to them. Scout is the worst, they give too many players 5 star status.

Anything Todd McShay is in charge of is garbage....
I think all of them have major flaws...which is why I look at all of them...I also check maxpreps via cbssports.com

The best service is the one in your head.

I agree that all of them have their warts. Todd McShay isn't in charge of the ESPN high school recruiting, he is in charge of the College football evaluation and recruiting.

Yes, yes you are correct on McShay...I'm still waking up haha

I HATE THAT GUY

I tend to just average them out and watch a bunch of film and come to my own judgement on the players...Playing in an all star bowl game and working out for a week with top talent is a good measure of talent too.

ESPN is the most accurate, but also the most unbearable, as they believe any player that doesn't come from the south is inferior.
