If it is Brady Hoke I feel bad for him. He's coming into UM as their 3rd option, after 2 Michigan men shot them down. He's inheriting a broken program who's talent pool is filled with talent that fit's the opposite of his philosophy, and thats just on offense. It would be manageable if he had a solid defense to lean on while while his offense is transitioning these next few years, but no, his defense is undersized, very thin, employs walk-ons, and will be moving toward an entirely different scheme. On top of that, many of their 2011 recruits have jumped ship, and more are likely to follow, you have to believe some of the recruits were waiting to see if they were going to play for Les Miles.


I can not see how this team will win more then 5 games next year. The UM Alum, and fans are going to get very impatient very fast. 2 or 3 rebuilding year's is not going to go over well.

Should have sent feelers out for Harbaugh/Les Miles a month ago, and kept Rich Rod unless one of those 2 wanted the job. The AD screwed the pooch, ofcourse UM fan's are saying that he did the morally right thing, and that Michigan is better then ND for not poaching a coach in season, or while one is presently employed. That logic is interesting, it is ethically correct to poach a coach 3 week's before recruit signing day?

cuz we all get jobs the next day at the place we want right after we quit somewhere else...nothing wrong with contacting a coach...if the coach doesn't want out then he wouldn't meet...nothing unethical about that

Yeah, the expectations of the program plus the environment he is walking into is very very tough. I feel like they are worse then ND in 05 when Charlie took over, more like 07 when there was really no depth, and young talent without top 10 recruiting classes coming in.

Michigan's FAILURE to find a new coach is oh so sweet. I live in Michigan 40 minutes from Ann Arbor and am surrounded by UM fans. Each and everyone of them thought they had Harbaugh in the bag, then they were ready for Les Miles to bring in the top recruits.... coincidentally they are not responding to my texts since the news about Miles staying in Baton Rouge broke haha

Just commenting on the tide that the program seems to be riding, we've all seen it first hand. UM is in trouble. Personally, I'd rather beat a good UM team.

Major michigan meltdown going on regarding the Hoke (Joke?) hiring. My nephew (a scUM fan) and his michigan cohorts are close to jumping off a cliff .... scUM having to settle for Hoke! Hahahaha, this is great! Muck Fichigan!!!

Rumors locally are swirling that the Harbaugh, Pinkel, Fitzgerald and most importantly Miles rumors were all lip service by UM. Fans and local pundits are speculating that Hoke was their man all along. Some people have also claimed Hoke had an agreement to be their head coach (albeit, silently) on Dec 6! Could this just be the fans and media trying to justify the hiring of Hoke and avoiding the embarrassment of going with their supposed 3rd choice?

We would know a lot more if we knew whether Miles was offerred a contract or not but we may never find that out. Brandon (Mich AD) probably won't indicate if that was the case either.

Why would he? It would just confirm they settled rather then just appearing to do so. Of course Michigan fans are going to put on a smiley face about the hire and the AD is going to say this is who we wanted all along...
