Tight end Richard Rodgers (Shrewsbury, Mass./St. John's) said he'll likely attend college at one of the eight schools that have already offered him a scholarship: California, Oregon, Notre Dame, Boston College, Maryland, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Virginia.
The process that leads to his final decision may not be easy, however. Rodgers grew up rooting for Notre Dame; his father, Richard, attended California (he handled the ball twice on the famous five-lateral play that beat Stanford); and his cousin, Jarius Byrd, played for Oregon before Buffalo selected him in the 2009 NFL draft. There's also the lure of local schools like BC and Massachusetts to consider.
"I keep in touch with those schools on a daily basis," Rodgers said. "I may not make a decision until into the next football season. Whenever I'm comfortable."
