Michigan/Michigan St. getting trounced by two SEC teams brings me back to the question of Notre Dame's talent level. There is no doubt that ND has taken huge strides since both the UM and MSU losses but if they were put up against a top tier SEC team, how would they fare? Hopefully, with a season under their belt in the BK system they will be BCS bound next year and maybe we can answer that question. In this day and age that will be the true test to whether or not ND is back. When ND can go toe to toe with the LSUs and Alabama's they will be back to the Fighting Irish we all have so patiently be waiting for.

At the start of the year, I would say they would have fared pretty bad. New offense, new QB, new defense. Hurt QB, among others. High octane coming to an ND near you this fall.

We lost to both teams early, before we had found our identity as a team.

The one thing the Alabama win taught us is that our defense is nowhere near elite, as much as we would like to think so. That defense was/is remarkably fast.

RR: "Uh, hey, Dave, did you want me to stay down hear for my scheduled recruiting visits?"

DB: "No Rich, let's head on up to Ann Arbor and watch the Orange Bowl together. Then we'll talk about your future. Wait a minute.....my phone is blowin' up. California area code....excuse me, Rich."

Brady Hoke would be next in line. Frankly as an AD/player/recruit/fan this embarrassment cannot continue. It sucks for ND because we have lost to them twice in 3 years under the worst UM football teams ever.

I can't see Brandon keeping up the charade.

I feel alot of ND fans will breathe a sigh of relieif if Harbough does not end up in Michigan.
But I think Hoke is a very good head coach who would also turn UM around. I think he has a Michigan clause in his contract with SDSU so I think he ends up at Michigan and Harbough jumps for the NFL.

Hoke has a losing record.

I believe Hoke is the man too. Harbough is NFL bound in the near future and for U of M to even consider him is kinda crazy. He would come for a couple years then leave for the NFL. Hoke has said U of M is his dream job. If he was to go he would be a long term possibility. That would be a smarter choice for U of M.

Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon is expected to meet Tuesday afternoon with football coach Rich Rodriguez, AnnArbor.com reported, citing two people with knowledge of the meetings.

Members of the football team are also scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday to find out if Rodriguez will return as their coach, according to the report.

Can't open up the rest of the story on the site, but that sounds like he will be returning to me if they're meeting with Rich Rod and then holding an afternoon press conference.

I wish all this would have happened a week ago. Michigan wants to go back to smash mouth football, and I believe Edsall would have delivered. Would have been an interesting scenarion. Will be very fun to watch all this unfold in the next week

True, But he did coach Ball State for most of his games. Gotta cut him a little slack on the record.

Coach Kelly doesn't have a losing record and he coached Grand Valley State, Central Michigan (a terrible team when he inherited them), and Cincinnati. So why do we need to give Hoke some slack on his record?

Also, didn't we beat Stanford in 2007 and 2008? Harbaugh is only 2-2 against the Irish...

There are other reports that say that no decision will be made on Rich Rodriguez's status at Michigan until tomorrow via ISD.

A few years ago there were also premature reports that said DickRod had been hired at Alabama.

Must be upon being told by Hairball he didn't want the job, scUM was scrambling to get "BIG" name coach. To no avail, so decided to keep RichRod. Hoke wouldn't be able to get big time recruits needed. Plus scUM couldn't talk, ?I believe? to Hairball while him still being a caoach at stanford, without "tampering"? That is all scUM needs is to add on the accusations while being on probation.
