what is a "gift suite" I see that for a lot of the bowls but what is it? Even in the smaller bowl games you get good stuff. If I played college football for a smaller school I would love the bowls more than a playoff just for playing I get an xbox in the st. petersberg bowl. Just for participating I'd get an ipod and a fossil watch in the texas bowl. Getitng that stuff just for participating would beat going to a playoff and losing by 40 pts in the first round to a dominant team. But for guys at bigger schools that are great every year I can see wanting to be champion more...still damn thats nice stuff

If you scroll down to the bottom, it says

Gift suites are set up as private events in which game participants and often bowl VIPs, are given an order form and allowed to select a gift or gifts up to a value predetermined by each specific bowl, not to exceed the NCAA limit of $500 per person.

Speaking of gifts, I got a nice one from one of my employees at our office Christmas party Saturday. A copy of the book "Notre Dame's Greatest Coaches," autographed by Ara.

I can't imagine any of the players I am reading about in there (i.e., the guys who played under Rockne, Leahy, Parseghian, and Holtz) being enamored with a bunch of dime store junk like this. Hope our present batch isn't either.

Hope I can write the sequel fifteen or twenty years from now, and add Kelly to the list. I'll make that my retirement project.

I have to imagine 60% of the players already have an xbox, and 99% have iPods. It's a bit useless to give that as a gift in this day and age.

Yeah when you're not paying $50,000 a year to go to school here you can afford those things. The rest of us non-athletes eat ramen noodles like its our job.

Oh yeah if I played for ND or a bigger University of course I'd rather have a chance to place for the title. But lets say I played for Tulsa, San Diego State, or Southern Mississippi where I wasnt always sure if Id be playing for the national title or in the top 25 each year that stuff would be sweet. Also sweet for a juco loser working a minimum wage job right now.

I can explain the hair dryer... there is a pretty big warehouse just off the 10 freeway called "Helen of Troy" it's a pretty nice employer out here from what I can gather and I am sure that is where the hair dryers come from.

Castello has done a nice job with this- funny, descriptive, shows the smarts of these guys. Good stuff. Like the idea of beating Miami. Miami will be tough.
