IrishIllustrated.com - NFL decision awaits Floyd

"Right now I'm staying here and will be here next year," Floyd said. "We'll look at it from there."

Floyd said he's already registered for classes during Notre Dame's spring semester, which begins in mid-January. The former five-star prospect also said a chance to compete for a national championship might factor into his decision to stay or go.

As someone who has said repeatedly that Floyd is gone, this would be a very pleasant surprise. If he stays for his senior year and keeps up the pace, he will be the #1 or #2 receiver off the board and probably a top 15 pick. For Notre Dame, Floyd coming back would be fantastic for Rees, Crist, Hendrix, or whoever the starting QB is next year. I'll say if Floyd comes back, the chances of being a top 10 team increases big time.

Exactly why I always thought he had a better chance of staying than Rudy. Floyd could drop into the second round this year, but if he stays and has a big year he could be an early first round pick. That is a huge pay difference.

I am extremely pleased to have this glimmer of hope to hang on to. Having Floyd back would be such a huuuuge boost to this team for next year.

The shaky situation with the NFLPA and the owners most certainly could be playing in our favor.

I sure hope he stays! should definitely take note of what happened to former ND players in the draft....too much have we seen them fall in the draft after being told by the "experts" that they would be top picks....im just worried that it will happen to floyd and rudolph too.
Anyway...who wouldn't want to stay at ND as long as possible?!

Next year will be awesome...i love being an irish fan! GO IRISH!

depth, depth, depth, thats what this means. tired no problem. banged up no problem. when you go to war do you want a gun that shoots a couple shots or something thats fully automatic. keep on firing all these weapons at you. hands will be on hips for opponents defenses

Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas is Michael Floyd and Kyle Rudolph... Oh, and a National Championship.

Love,
FightingIrishLover7

But seriously. With Kyle, Michael, TJ, Theo, Cierre, DaVaris, Effiert, Toma, Goodman, and possibly Bennett Jackson at WR.

We are loaded with play makers. Our depth is nasty. And if Dayne can get healthy or someone else like Tommy, Andrew, or Everett can step up and play big at QB I'm liking our roster.

I'm really really liking our roster.

Having Floyd certainly helps, but unless somebody steps up at QB and really takes control of our offense, we won't be national championship caliber.

i had to state that so some ol' timer doesn't give me the whole story of our red shirting process. no offense

People on these boards know there are no "red shirts". They also know that when someone says "red shirting" they actually mean sitting out a year to preserve an additional year of eligibility.

"red shirting" is the same idea, and much easier to type than "sitting out a year to preserve an additional year of eligibility."

Leaving early for a multi-million dollar deal

Leaving early for a multi-million dollar deal

is hardly an unintelligent decision. If the athletic career does not work out, school will still be there, and, hopefully, still will a lot of the money.

A couple of weeks ago a poster on IrishIllustrated, who goes to school at ND, posted on a chat that Rudolph moved out of his dorm and isn't registered for spring classes. From people at ND, it sounds like it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Rudolph is gone.

And the feeling regarding Floyd is that he is gone as well, unless the NFL report comes back saying he should stay another year and that he'll be like a 4th round pick or lower. I don't see that happening, so I don't see Floyd coming back either. And if that's the case, I certainly can't blame them. Football is a violent, violent game, and they've both received 3 years of education at a top university and will be very close to graduating, which we hope they come back and do (should they leave early).

This isn't like a basketball player going to school for a semester, learning close to education-wise and life-wise, then going off to the pros without any of the life skills that college teaches you. These are 2 kids that gave their all to ND, are close to graduating, and about to fulfill a life-long dream. My hat's off to them.

But damn, I hope they come back!!!

yeah but leaving early because of an ego or bad advice is. life isnt a sprint its a marathon and everyone puts it in these kids ears "well what if you get hurt" but how manys times do rookies careers end in training camp or worse yet outta football with lives lost. but you cant play the "what if" game in life can we? if you do your just wasting it. regardless of the situation i do believe it is more intelligent to receive your degree before walking away from school. it shows the university respect. everyone at the school respect. to make sure that you take full advantage of your opportunity and not just made your stay a stepping stone.

once again fan vs. fanatic

Dammit :( Ok Im going to edit this so I can post something a little more worth while. I guess when I was in junior high and high school playing college football was such a mecca for me that I could never imagine leaving a university like Notre Dame early for any reason at all. I mean NFL is great but I guess to me I would want to milk my time at ND for all it was worth if I wouldve been luck enough to play football there.
