I don't want to be a second option... We were his first option then he left us and now we are leaving him. (if this is all true)

Did he take a life? commit a crime? Did he sign an obligation?

no, no, and no

accountability, disregard????

To me, and I would assume many others on here, our words still hold value. So accountability, absolutely!

I am torn with this one.

I am torn with this one.

Ugh. Exactly, and thereby disregarding accountability for his actions by justifying taking him after everything that occurred.

He seems like a good kid. He wants to play with his brother. He lied to the coaches. Okay f him. He's out!
There are hundreds of thousand of subway alums that would give their right nut to go to ND. Much less to go to ND on a full ride. Much less play on the football team. If he does not get it, screw him.

If this kid wants to be Irish, I say give him a chance.

He had a chance to play with his brother under a great coach, now that coach is gone, so he is now looking elsewhere and we were his 1st choice behind Florida(Urban).

Just my 2 cents.

I love it. We will probably get either Scarlett or Shane Ray who are better or comparable with Burton. If the coaches felt they were lied to, why would they trust the kid to show up and take care of business the right way as a student athlete?

Remember, spots are at a premium here down the stretch.

Remember folks, the kid is 17 years old, much bigger mistakes have been made. Give him a break. I bet he sh*t a brick when Urbie came tumbling down. Hindsight is 20:20 and hes got it now and still has a chance to fix it. I don't think hes another CMart (where is he going next?).

Take him back, give him the opportunity to make amends by working hard. I wonder how much of a role his parents played in this? Remember his mom saying this was "their" plan all along. Parents aren't perfect either.

i think i can deal with that...but at the same time, if the coaches feel they were played by the guy, im ok with them telling him to shove it

All of this was started by an unsubstantiated report that he called ND. Get real, that NEVER happened, that is a pipe dream and sure makes for a good story but it never happened. He went to Florida to play with his brother and to be closer to home, none of that has changed with Urbie leaving........

There is no story here but I guess if you want to play story time, have at it.....

Guys,
Let's all be big boys here. Most people in here are grown adults, but sometimes act like scorned girlfriends. I believe everyone has expressed their opinion by now.

LETS MOVE ON!!! If Kelly wants to invtie him back, that is Kelly's choice. If Kelly said Sorry, not happening, that is also BK's choice.

i think it really doesnt matter, the only thing that does is the development of our current players and the team to keep winning. because if we do win next year a whole new crop of 4 and 5 star talent will be there and we will get what we need. and we will all be saying next year burton who?

And possibly Carlisle

If I were the coach of Stanford (ugh, I just shudder at the thought) and Carlisle de-commited, then wanted to return I would say no as well. Its not that I hold any grudge against these kids. They have their motivations and as has been pointed out numerous times teens are teens. But from a program perspective you have to set the standard that a commitment is a commitment, otherwise all this "if you're looking, we're looking" stuff is just meaningless. And as our South Jersey friend so Jersily stated these are rumors to begin with Bro.

Burton took his official visit to Florida last weekend in-between coaches. When asked why he did it then before a replacement was named, Burton said: "I didn't care really. I wanted to hang out with my brother and I'm committed. It didn't matter who the coach was going to be, it's still Florida."

On Saturday night, Burton was with his brother and other Florida players when they all found out that Will Muschamp was to be the new coach at UF.

"I'm real happy. He's an awesome college football coach and when I talked to him on Saturday night he seemed real energetic and appreciative of the job."

Seems like Burton really wanted to be at Florida no matter what. Maybe we can put this one to rest.

That's all fine and good, I totally understand him wanting to be there and play w/ his brother....but using ND like he did as kind of a back up plan is bull****, bad parenting.

Straight up...be a man. Tell them if UF offers, that's where you are going. Don't snow the snowman

Though he did just drop a pass. I also saw him whiff on a block. He is not a TE.

Oops...you're right, it was Trey Burton. I just flipped on the game after reading the post about him playing TE and saw Burton fumble and assumed it was him. I thought he looked awfully skinny to be playing TE.

It is confusing. Making it worse is that Trey is #8 and Clay is #88.
