I think it comes down to ND and Syracuse.

I think so too. With Penn State you just don't know how much longer Joe Paterno will coach. He is a good coach but he is getting old too and how much longer is he going to be around? I think we have a good chance because we are a storied program that is back on the rise again with a national audience every weekend and are a great academic institution. Syracuse is where his parents went to school and they are relatively close to his home. The real question here for me as I see it is if he is willing to come to South Bend which is much farther from home. We all know he would fit in well here and he is the kind of kid you really want to be a part of your program, but is he willing to be so far away from family? That is the big question in my opinion.

well what if his parents went to community college guess he should play there??? "thats right i just compared syracuse to a community college" theres no magic like our magic, and you really think there gonna lose guys from psu because paterno retires right..... (florida st.) ol' joe-pa hasn't been doing anything besides getting lost and mumbling..... i mean at half time im sure they sit him down with his sippy cup and pat him on the head. so what it comes down to is "the rise of kelly" vs. "Big D PSU" or "syracuse community college" for those that are determined......

don't think the issue is so much that JoPa will leave as who will they hire to take his place. right now, JoPa gets paid less than most D1 coaches. To get an elite coach, they are going to have to sweaten the pot by 6 or 7 times what JoPa makes. The recruits that will come will be highly dependent on the next coach. Incidently, I think next year could easily be his last season at PSU. He needs eight more wins to pass Robinson on the all time list for coaching wins in college football. I would guess that is the milestone he wants to achieve before finally hanging it up. as far as williams goes, who knows. I'd love to see him come to ND, but as of right now PSU is still a player.

announcing who the next coach is is going to be what hits home with recruits. That's all I'm saying. And they have to show that they are willing to come up with the big bucks to get that guy who will appeal to them.

how is it logical? one good season and a decent one his year makes it logical to be the next psu coach?

Al Golden has done an outstanding job at Temple. Temple was probably the worst program in div 1-a. Plus, he is a PSU alumn.

Here's an interesting stat: Al Golden's Temple teams have never beaten a MAC team with a winning record. I saw it on espn.com somewhere. I'll try to find the link

If you look at PSU's most recent commits, they chose Penn State over the likes of Akron and Bowling Green.

Notre Dame's recruiting against the best programs in the country. He has to allow that to weigh into his decision.

Also, with Nebraska joining the Big 10, PSU will remain in the middle of those conference standings. Nothing too special about that.

Official visit on Wednesday, Dec 8??? How is he getting to South Bend, SNOWMOBILE?? The weather in SB this week resembles the Arctic Circle!!!

I hope that he does not mind Blizzard conditions.

I really would like to have this kid. Anyone that thinks this guy is going to temple is mistaken. Just look at what happened to Temple this week. They had a good season and got left out of any bowl. Do you ever think that happens to ND if we just win 6 games??? NO WAY!!! ND's fan base is second to none and we represent.

Good Luck Ishaq!! Hope to see you in South Bend, next fall!!

Great to hear he will be visiting tomorrow! That is awesome news!!!! Hope his visit goes well. There are two kids left on our radar that I want to have BAD!! Ishaq has been the one guy I have wanted from the beginning. His personal story is an inspiration and the kid is an amazing player. He brings with him alot of intangibles that just cannot be graded.

I'm too lazy to read this whole thread and find out, but are his parents coming with him on his visit?

Can someone post if they find out any info about how his visit goes? Thanks!

This kid would put such an exclamation point on this already promising class.
