Greetings from El Paso! Some thoughts

Hey all, UTEP fan here or El Paso resident. Heh

Just coming to say how nice it is to be hosting Notre Dame in the Sun Bowl..We had Stanford/OU last year, and I was really impressed with both fan bases..especially OU's.

El Paso has a HUGE, and I mean HUGE ND fan base. A big alumni club, too. Charlie Weis used to come down to El Paso to meet up with them. Pretty cool.

Anyway, I hope you guys don't have a sour taste in your mouthes about the violence right next door in Juarez. You should have NOTHING to worry about in regards to safety.

El Paso was voted safest city in the US this year.

Nightlife: EP night life gets pretty wild, if you ask around, they will all most likely Cincinatti Street is the place to be in terms of bars. Cincinatti is REALLY fun. Tons of bars where you can bar hop. The clubs are downtown, btw.

There's also Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino, which is fun.

Food: If you're staying in close distance to the Sun Bowl, you will find a ton of places to grub on Mesa Street.

The weather is absolutely gorgeous on New Year's Eve in El Paso. Low 50's and comfortable.

im friggin jealous of the people going to the game! friggin skip holtz, coulda just won and i would be on here bragging about going to the game!

anyways, love the matchup and i have a buncha friends that are um fans, so it will be nice to get a win.

The Camino is a really NICE hotel, it's downtown, but you should have nothing to worry about.

It's close to the Convention Center, where Fan Fest is held. So that would be nice being close to everything, and you can hop on Mesa Street for easy access to the Sun Bowl/restaraunts.

I checked the rates going into the El Paso airport, very pricey from where I would be coming from.

I spent some time in El Paso, two or three times this year. It's really kind of an interesting city. It's worth the trip, if you don't have to mortgage the house to go.

No idea...i was wondering the same thing....if I have time...not sure if it will happen...I want to create a Irish Envy Flag...and walk around waving it...met my Irish Brothers that I chat with all the time. Killz is #1 on this list....he is the man!

We are certainly going to have to set-up some logistics involving the tailgate. I'm shooting for an 0800 hrs ordeal. Coffee and Irish whiskey early. We'll evolve as the hours tick.

I'm planning on hoisting a 28' Notre Dame flag pole in the parking area. I'll try to craft something to clue in the brothers in case we have other 28 footers in the adjacent areas... I'm going to have to purchase a Notre Dame tailgate tent.
