I'm not watching it live but I am able to follow it on twitter from different reporters there. Some interesting things.

Ian Williams will basically have to "ask" to come out because he will be a big part of the defense. Cwynar and H.Williams will have different roles from recent weeks

Rudolph and Floyd have asked to be evaluated by the NFL Draft Committee

Theo Riddick will be a big part of the offensive game plan.

BK also said about Rudolph and Floyd, we are heavily recruiting them to come back....

I like to hear that.

I like hearing that as well. I just think both will be better off sticking out next year in South Bend. There is just too much uncertainty surrounding next nfl season.

I agree. Floyd has all the potential in the world, but still needs to be more polished. KR as well. I can't see both going in the first round. I think they would both be in a better position to wait until next year

#NotreDame coach Brian Kelly: Freshman QB Andrew Hendrix would not play in the Sun Bowl, but is getting plenty of work in practice.

Both of these guys are ready for the NFL, right now. Especially Floyd. Floyd runs very good routes, catches just about everything thrown anywhere near him, and can already block well downfield. He might want to wait around another year, to hopefully put up huge numbers in one of the better offenses in the country and guarantee himself to be a Top 10 pick in the draft. But Michael Floyd could play in the NFL tomorrow, if he knew the playbook.

Shhhh! We don't want him to know that!

Floyd had some questionable drops this year and frankly I think he needs another year of polish.

Absolutely.

Compare Michael Floyd to other top receivers and he doesn't hold up as well. Georgia's A.J. Green, Alabama's Julio Jones, Arkansas's Greg Childs, South Carolina's Alshon Jeffery and Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon are all better than Floyd, IMO.

Even Mel Kiper is advising Floyd to stay. And he likes Notre Dame.

Floyd and Rudolph need to stay. Right now they are projected lower than Clausen and Tate, and we all saw how that played out... Especially in Jimmy's case.

Projections don't mean ****.

Rudolph will be the 1st TE taken if he leaves, and won't go any higher next year, question is, does he want to risk another injury, play with friends and get a degree, or does he want to leave and risk the season not happening.

I personally think that Michael Floyd became a beast as the season wore on and would have a successful rookie year and NFL career even if he left for the 2011 draft. Obviously, I'd love for him to return, but let's not start disparaging him just to make him seem unready for the league.

It has nothing to do with being ready, as a previous poster noted he is currently behind other WRs that are better at this point. Another year would be good for him imo.

We could debate this all day, but nobody knows for sure if another year will benefit him. I think it's ridiculous to make any such comments when it comes to a violent sport such as football. It could easily go the other way. As of right now, he's guaranteed a contract that will pay him significant money (relative to the rest of the country).

There many things that come into account when these kids make this decision. I dont know anything about his upbringing, but I do know a lot of these kids come from nothing, and a NFL pay check would solve many many problems for them, and their families. Floyd has got to do whats best for him.

There might be other receivers that are as good as Floyd, but no one is better than him.

He is currently considered the #5 or #6 best WR if he enters the draft. Thats all based upon production on the field. Many things factor into that including the teams opponents thru the year and QB play. He, or any of the top 5 or 6, put in anothers position could excel.

And some costly fumbles early in the year that showed a lack of focus or effort. But I'd think focus because watching him block tells me that he gives 100% every play.

I wouldn't be too hard on Floyd from his early season miscues. You have to think he had been with Clausen who had pinpoint accuracy, then this year he had Crist which is good but was injured early, then had Montana, then Crist, then Rees. So he has had alot of diversity in just one season. The fumbles could be a lack of focus, or he was trying to do too much thinking that he had to do everything since the offense was an unknown.
But once the offense got it's identity he was doing very good. Just my opinion, I would love for him to stay more than anyone, but if their is no lockout I could see him leaving.

Alshon Jeffery!!

Not to take anything away from Jeffrey, but I didn't see him making great blocks downfield, all year long. Nor did I see him just reach out and "stab" a ton of passes that were not quite on target. Now, I didn't watch S. Carolina every week, like I did ND. But I find it hard to believe that the kid is a better complete package than Floyd.

If I'm scouting for the NFL, I have no complaint whatever about Mike Floyd's skill and ability to beat coverages and catch every possible ball. My concern would be durability. He's lost time every season. Had he played every game possible, his stats would be so out-of-sight that this conversation would be different. But he hasn't. I can't read Big Mike's mind, but if I could I'd not be surprised to find thoughts about this knocking around in there. "Should I go now and not risk another injury, even a small one?" or "Should I stay and prove to the pros that I can get through a whole season unscathed?" If I was Mike, and, although we share the name, I'm not and have no business giving him advice, I'd pick "choice #2" and stay for my senior year to prove something about my body to the scouts. But it's a dice roll isn't it?? And I won't blame him for either decision. He's given us a lot---just like Jimmy and Golden.

I think wide receiver is a tough position to draft. Quarterbacks are obviously the most scrutinized players in the league so we tend to think more of quarterbacks when we talk NFL busts but there's been a lot of wide receivers who've been lackluster. USC Mike Williams, Ashley Lelie, Rashaun Woods, Desmond Howard, David Terrell, Troy Edwards, Peter Warrick, the list could go on. It's just a risky position (ask the Lions) to draft too high.

I would think Floyd would be a third/fourth round pick if I were a betting man. Does he have great hands? Yes. Does have good size? Yes. Does he have good speed? Yes.

Did everybody on the list above have some/all of the same traits? Yep.

Floyd is gone. He is not rated lower than Baldwin, Jeffrey, or Blackmon. Only Jones and Green are higher. Floyd will tear up the Combine and then be a top 20 pick. His size and speed combination combined with his production is too much.

Rudolph would be stupid to come back and risk another injury while he's still the #1 tight end prospect.
