At least she's not the VP. Here in Minnesota we have to deal with Michelle Bachmann as a "functioning" Pol for another two years in the House.

Are you joking? You must be. Have you watched any TV in the last 10 years? Kim Kardashian got a show for being a ho, then theres Jersey Shore, I mean Paris Hilton had a show and her IQ is in the low teens.

I'm not a Sarah Palin fan, but I don't get all the hate for her. I will not be watching her new show, but I could careless if other people do.

Part of this whole weird idea that we should "relate" to our politicians. I don't want our elected leaders to be people I would get along with, I want them to be smart enough to deal with very serious issues. It's the MTV-ization of politics.

Duly noted and done, done, done! "Done" since the second time (everyone deserves a second chance) I listened to or read accounts of her "well-reasoned philosophy" and "studied, informed expertise."

Let me assume an ACamp mantle and simply say this: she's a ****ing ditz.

Sadly, John McCain gave her a stage that has allowed her to raise obscene amounts of money for the Tea Party Partisan Putzes. And to make obscene amounts of money for herself while adding nothing of value to the economy and nothing of benefit to the population-at-large.

To each his or her own.

There goes my intention to steer clear of politics on this forum.

I think the low political point of this country's recent history was when Christine O'donnell released a commercial listing not having gone to Yale as one of her crowning achievements.

I'm not going to wander into politics here, but I will say this: intellectual firepower, on either side of the aisle, is something our country can never have enough of. Simple issues were resolved a long time ago, all we're left with are the complicated ones.

Vomit. Reminds me of a normal comment I have while watching COPS:

These people have voting rights....

Kill me.

That was almost as funny as when she asked "Where in the Constitution does it say there should be a separation of Church and State?" in a debate.

The First F'ing Amendment.

Bahahaha. Can Huckabee please raise his hand again and say that he doesn't believe in evolution?

Give me someone who has run a fortune 100 company and a solid P&L, and I will vote for them. Politicians are a joke.

Sarah Palin needs to release a sex tape...that would be her greatest contribution to American society. Beyond that, she needs to stay out of politics since she doesn't seem to have the IQ for it. Politics in this country are a joke...they are a thinly veiled front for back handed payouts by big business. Worried about the vote on a key issue? Here's some money...swing it toward my company! Don't trust socialized medicine, it's evil! You know, except it works better than our system in the countries that use it and use it right. Not to mention, if you think socialized medicine is communism, try having $70,000 worth of medical debt and calling it "freedom to choose". This country is eff'd and I'm not sure how to fix it at this point in the timeline.

Money, money, money.

We lefties needn't worry about Palin helping our spinnless POTUS get reelected as she is done with elective politics.

Like Newt, Beck and Rush, she is now in the red meat for money game.

Nothing more.

What could she run on? The fact that she only served two years as Governor, then quit because she didn't want to be a lame duck. She has no grasp of the issues and brings NOTHING to the table for the American people.

The First F'ing Amendment.

...

She was asking about that precise phraseology.

And textually she's right. Establishment Clause =/= "separation". It wasn't interpreted as "separation" until the F'ing 1940's.

However you want to rationalize that comment, go for it. She's not intelligent.

I don't think "rationalize" means what you think it means. O'Donnell specifically said:

"The First Amendment does? ... So you're telling me that the separation of church and state, the phrase 'separation of church and state,' is in the First Amendment?"

O'Donnell questions separation of church, state - Yahoo! News

And she's precisely right -- that phrase is not in the Constitution. Neither is that concept.

Not that anyone can blame you for repeating what the mainstream media reports. "Separation of Church and State" is one of the main pilars of that religion known as Leftism.

Christine O'Donnell's church and state gaffe makes voters laugh | World news | The Guardian

The US constitution has its quirks but it is crystal clear on one issue: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," begins the first amendment, adopted in 1791. But more than 200 years later, its meaning appears to be lost on Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party favourite running for a US Senate seat.

At a debate today for the Delaware Senate seat once occupied by Vice President Joe Biden, O'Donnell appeared to be nonplussed by the wording of the first amendment, repeatedly returning to the subject and sounding incredulous after her Democratic opponent Chris Coons attempted to explain it to her.

When Coons told her the text of the constitution prohibited government from establishing any religion, O'Donnell replied in apparent bewilderment: "You're telling me that's in the first amendment?"

Minutes earlier, the audience at Widener Law School in Delaware had laughed in derision when O'Donnell asked: "Where in the constitution is the separation of church and state?"

Not only is the first amendment perhaps the most famous part of the constitution but the "establishment clause", as it is known, is the subject of legal precedent stretching back into the 19th century. No less an authority than Thomas Jefferson declared the clause's aim to build "a wall of separation between church and state".

While O'Donnell's campaign was quick to attempt damage limitation, saying that the words "separation of church and state" appear nowhere in the constitution, the gaffe does O'Donnell no favours as her campaign unravels and she trails far behind Coons in latest opinon polls.

O'Donnell's slip is also the latest in a string of blunders by Tea Party candidates around the US, highlighting the danger of pushing untested candidates under the glare of the national media.

On Sunday, security guards for Republican senate candidate Joe Miller forcibly handcuffed a local journalist after a public event in Alaska, while Nevada Republican Sharron Angle recently told a room full of Hispanic students that "some of you look a little more Asian to me".

• This article was amended on 20 October 2010. The original said that Thomas Jefferson was one of the authors of the US constitution. This has been deleted.
