I am a HUGE zombie movie fanatic! I have always loved shows and movies with zombies much more that all the pussy vampire stuff we have seen lately. So, needless to say, I was very pumped for the premiere of this new series on AMC.

It looked great in previews. I am not one to do much research online before a show or movie airs, so I only saw the previews that were shown on TV and I was not familiar with the comic book. I was really looking forward to this show and I was not disappointed!

The overall feel of the show is great. Very dismal and creepy. The effects are great - especially the make-up work. It had just the right amount of gore, in my opinion, and it really kept a good pace throughout the whole episode. It was just a lot of fun to watch. I can't wait for the next episode.

Any other zombie fans out there?

yeah bro i watched it.....its pretty sad actually, especially when the guy cant shoot his wife who is now a zombie, i wasnt expecting it to be like that. It has added some depth to the show, im not a huge zombie fan because it is so over done anymore but that show is badass indeed!

I agree. I like the fact it isn't overly gory, or gory for the sake of being gory. It seems like it has a good plot set up, and I especially like the twist of the cops wife and child being with his old partner. Definitely will be watching on sunday nights.

There is a nice emotional level to the show that I was not expecting either. When the main character woke up in the hospital and was staggering around through the carnage, you could just feel how alone he was.

Very good feel to the show. The sets have been very expansive and impressive. I hope they do some flashback scenes to show the military trying to fend off the zombie horde. Would be fun to see an M1 Abrams blasting away and a wave of the undead.

I am also curious to see just how much time has elapsed since the main character was wounded to the time when he woke up.

I am watching it as well. I am not really a huge zombie fan, but I have heard nothing but good things about the comic it's based on. I thought the premier was pretty decent, and I am interested to see where the series will go.

So I only had a few questions about this. I have been waiting for this for a long time as well and I wasn't disappointed.

  • How long was he in a hospital bed with no food, or IV fluid?
  • Why wasn't his wound, as quoted by the black dood as being pretty funky, overly infected?
  • How come he wasn't a victim in the hospital?
  • Is his wife's kiss with his ex partner a sign that there was an affair pre-apocolypse? IE, if its only been a few weeks that is pretty quick to develop a relationship.

Plot points you can see coming:

  • Black kid has to shoot his own mom. Or mom finds the door open and invites some friends over.
  • Ex-Partner becomes Zombie at some point and husband shoots him.

haha- First 20 minutes-Rotting Dead body with flies, little girl shot in head, shoot out with police, and female corpse laying in hospital. oh and now dead bodies lines up outside of hospital.

It may not be overly gory but it def isnt "underly" gory either.

AMC is legitimately the best channel on TV outside NBC on Saturdays and Versus.

Rubicon was great, Mad Men is great, and this show sounds legit too.

I am a huge zombie fan(Max Brooks books are great!)!!!

This episode did not dissapoint other than the fact that it the hospital thing was done in 28 Days Later.

I also wondered how he stayed alive without an IV and just figured the fact that they are attracted to noise and not just people like in most zombie movies or books is the reason they didn't get to him while he was in his closed room unconscious.

Have you ever seen "Breaking Bad"? That is another amazing show. I haven't seen Rubicon yet, but I am going to buy the DVDs and watch it.

AMC is solid but i must say HBO takes the cake as the best and here is the reason

1. Boardwalk Empire (amazing)
2. East Bound & Down ( best show ever)
3. Entourage
4. The Pacific ( best mini series ever)
5. Band of Brothers ( second best mini series ever)

"The Walkind Dead" will be fantastic and win as many or more awards than "Breaking Bad," another AMC series.

I guess watching the 2nd episode during lunch was a wrong thing to do. Rubbing the zombie guts on them was pretty unappetizing.

Hahaha, I was eating some pretzels during that part last night and had to stop. This is a great show, and I'm glad I started watching it. My wife is even into it as well. The Zombie Apocalypse resonates through all of society!

I think they did a great job with it too. While mind numbing zombie violence is desirable, there is no way the show would last with only that. They've added the human drama element, and more importantly, focused on it, making it likely that this show can stick. In other words, they've cast a wider net to appeal to a larger audience than the younger males who are enamored with the genre. My faceyspace has been filled with posts of people who are watching it, including plenty of women. I'm very pleased that this show has some staying potential now, as it is quit enjoyable after two episodes.

In unrelated news, The Event is back on tonight! WOOT!

I kind of nudged my wife a bit to watch the first episode and now she is hooked. I really like some of the story lines they have already. Pure zombie carnage would work if it was just a mini-series or movie, but they need stories to sustain it and I like where it has gone so far.

The zombie guts scene was harsh, but I really don't think they over-did the gore. I like how they did much of it with sound instead of graphic scenes. It was still plenty gross, but it could have been much, much more over the top.

Another solid episode tonight. I am guessing one of the 4 will not come back alive.

I wonder if they will break into the history of how everything went down....

1. I think he was there for a couple of weeks and probably woke up because his body lacked nutriants.
2. Luck? its a tv show
3. He was out cold and the Zombies are attracted to noise most of all
4. Deeveloping story i assume. just wait and see

I found the dynamic with the "gang-bangers" really interesting. I liked how they showed the roles and stereotypes change in a post-TEOTWAWKI (The End of the World As We Know It) situation.

I am bummed there are only two episodes remaining. I guess they only did a short season to see how the show will do. Hopefully, season 2 will be a full season.

Awesome show...so far! I just started watching last week and immediately
afterwards had to watch episode 1 on the AMC website. I found episode 2
on Amazon, but not sure if I want to drop $2.99 for one episode. Was
episode 2 worth it?
