Reese did make some freshman mistakes, needs to watch his blindside a little better, but he looked pretty good. That wasn't an easy position to be put in. Just gotta learn to not force things when they aren't needed.

Tommy played his heart out, made mistakes, Tulsa played their hearts out, going forward i think our only win will be army, 5-7 is a rebuilding kind of record, i guess need to pack it in and see what happens next year.

We have virtually no chance of getting to a bowl now. That pass call is indefensible. You have a kicker who has hit his last 18 FGs, and a freshmen quarterback in the game. Run the ball and kick the field goal. I don't think Kelly should be fired, but I have begun to seriously question his decision making and ability to lead the program back.

We aren't making a bowl game, which cannot be acceptable even in a rebuilding year. We lose a bunch of practices based on that.

Tommy looks good on short routes, but it is really a concern on any route that requires arm strength. You saw it on longer outs (even the one to Floyd on the last drive) and longer throws over the middle (the first half throw to Floyd was brutal too). His arm strength just isn't good enough.

This season is a write off, the only goal now is to keep the recruits we can - and we have to face the facts, we're going to lose some.

We are the laughing stock of college football right now. Navy destroyed us and they are getting smoked by Duke right now. The last pass by Rees was unnecessary and should never have been thrown...but the game was lost by the defense on that 3rd and 26. We stop them there and we win the game. I have no idea what Jamoris Slaughter was thinking on that play. He was in no mans land doing circles. Sorry to vent, but this is the thread to do it on.

In defense of the call on that last pass, it was a 36 yd fg attempt into a pretty stiff and swirling wind. Tommy should have thrown the ball higher and deeper, but I thought overall he looked good.

That happens when you only rush 3 and the defensive backs run way down field with the offensive 10 yards back from them. Defensive coordinator sucks. Never see any linebacker stunts. We just sit back and read and sometimes make a tackle after they gain 5 or 6 yards.

We had the makings of an amazing class two weeks ago, and I had hope for the future irrespective of what happened on the field. If this class falls apart I just don't know what the future will hold for ND, this could truly be the start a years of really really bad years.

Any one can tell you if you are down by 2 on the ****ing 20 yard line or so with a true freshman quarterback and the best kicker in the country you run the ball a few times for the possiblity at some positive yardage and you kick the mother ****ing field goal.....

Guys, I know we have had a very bad result tonight, but we need to take it in the context of what has happened in the week before hand - we had a fatal accident in the week running up to the game - which the players would have to have seen ( probably a guy they know well ) then we also have the joys of facing a team we are expected to beat well with a vastly understrength team - loosing more during the game ( get well soon Dayne ) I thought Tommy did well, considering the circumstances.....whilst I understand the outcry, please consider that football is only a game ( to most )...poor Declan's family have a far far greater loss to endure.....

Judging by Kelly's rare non-yelling response to the INT at the end, he knew this one is on him. Reese shouldn't have ever been put into that position to throw that ball, it obviously shoulda been ran. I feel bad for Reese because he managed the game and played well, then a play that shouldn't have been called ends the game in the manor it did.

Nice. Except for the part about "it's only a game."

I personally hit rock bottom and realized this team was set back quite a few years last week. I posted as such. So this week I am not as angry, just numb and with a huge disgusted hole in my gut. I went for a quick walk after the game, walking like a zombie. Neighbors thought I was wearing my halloween costume.

I will throw in some support for Kelly here. He took over a team with 300 lb linemen and backs poised for a pro style offense. He is running a gimmicky quick offense (which I can't stand...). This is a huge transition, and the poor timing in the running game reeks of that fact. Backs are too impatient behind the elephants.
