Worst Notre Dame Game Ever?

Again, I beg to differ with everyone, and not about some game from the 1930s. My definition of a "worst game ever" is not about a "worst lost, feelings-wise" but about how the team actually functioned. For absolute incompetent looking performance, this wasn't within lightyears of practically any game we [euphemistically] "played" in Jimmy Clausen's first year.[ and that had very little to do with JC; it was a "team effort"]. I was so embarrassed by our non-functionality in those games that I was ashamed to talk football with any of my friends and they were nice enough to express their respects for "a fine institution which used to play football". Lord, quit creating threads like this to unearth such memories, when I'm trying to recover from today. Old Man is going to take another nap.

This year's team is supposedly loaded with better athletes and a better coach. Yet the WORST OVERALL EFFORT from top to bottom I have EVER witnessed. This is worse than any '07 game. We expected that. We expected sabotage on that team. We did not expect this farce. This IS THE WORST GAME I HAVE EVER WITNESSED. The '85 Faust game, Faust had quit, game had no meaning, and ND was playing the ultimate prick in Jimmy Johnson, who now sells penis pills. We expected that.

Now the team has even more injuries. Good thing we have one of the toughest schedules and can share those bragging rights.

To my buddy Neutered: I'll bow to your insight, it's still true that I could not believe the level of incompetence in Jimmy's first year---I was happy to just see us get the center snap right. But I'll take a note from one of my football-monster brothers, who was going on TV in a "seniors" feature spot, and was kidding about before camera went on about stupid things to say. When the time came , he went into mindlock and blurted out "Bettr azz him; he smarterin' I are." His head coach yelled "Cut!!" The end of my brother's TV career. So to this thread I'll say: Bettr azz Neutered; He smarterin' I are.

This was absolutely horrible. Was at the game and drove home sick! No passion and zero emotion from the team and fans. They might as well cancel these off site games because even with 95% Irish fans in attendance it felt like a funeral. Granted the team played poor but it was quiet from the beginning. Shame on the University for not even sending the band, we sure know they can afford to do it. ND needs to turn this around or continue to be the laughing stock of division 1 football. Losing 3 out of 4 to Navy is a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was bad and if Ian Williams wants to say today that we were out-schemed I will agree with him 100%. The defense looked just as confused this year as they did last year and the offense sputtered.

But I repeat, I have seen worse, more deflating losses. This was very bad and it all is a matter of opinion...I just think too many of you have short memories.

On the other hand, if we are going to play Navy every year, Diaco, Kelly, and company had better figure out what everybody else does against the Navy triple option and get ready for it next year and on into ifinity, because we can't afford to be Navy's whipping boys anymore.

2007: 38-0 vs. USC As I recall the game was over before it started and the total offense was close to zero.

2007: Air Force 41-24 Air Force was not the team Navy is

1985: 35-17 vs. Purdue...everybody keeps harping on that beat down by a powerful Miami team, this Faust beauty was against a 5-6 Pudue team and sent Notre Dame and Gerry Faust into an irreversable tail spin.

2003: 38-12 vs. Syracuse (a 6-6 team who's 5 other victories were against pansies)

We lost by 18 to a very solid Navy team.

Without our three best receivers. With a bunch of new players on offense in the first year of a new coaching staff.

You really have tunnel vision (do deer have that too?) if you think this was the worst loss ever. Sure we got licked on defense but there are about half a dozen worse losses just in the recent past, to say nothing of the Faust or mid 50's to early 60's.

If we're going to start comparing losses, then let's ask ourselves how this 2010 Navy team would have played in some of our other pathetic losses.

This Navy team would have beat 2008 Syracuse by 4 touchdowns. And we lost. At home. You can't convince me in any way that today's loss was worse.

We lost by 26 POINTS to a 6-6 Syracuse team in 2003 that went 2-5 in the Big East. In that game the Irish piled up 261 total yards with 4 turnovers. How is losing by 8 more points to a much worse team than what Navy is today, not as as bad?

There are about three or four deflating blowouts from the past few years that were worse than today too.

You apparently neutered, I however reject the rivals star based opinion that this was ever going to be a 10 win+ team. So, respectfully, I disagree totally with your justification.
