Knute Rockne is weeping.
This team never fails to constantly ruin my weekends.

I'm really concerned about the offense. This is not just 'getting used to a new scheme'. There are serious problems here that need to be addressed. Last year Cinci regularly gave up 30+ a game, we didn't hire a defense first coach here and people need to realize that. Brian Kelley is doing exactly what's expected of him defensively. Offense is a disaster right now.
-Our safeties are still pathetically bad and if our front 7 can't shed blocks they don't have the speed or know-how to fill quickly and make a tackle.
-Dayne Crist had no chemistry with any of the receivers in today and then made some of the worst throws I have ever seen to boot.
-Brian Kelly needs to run the ball more. Armando and Wood both gashed them and our drives stalled when we got throw happy.
-This is the kind of loss that gets decommitments. I am praying we hold on to all of the guys we got because we desperately need them.
1. This game was absolutely lost in the trenches, which should just show everyone that despite the fact that this team has made strides, it's still not a very good team. Navy, in the second half, was actually getting about a 1.5 to 2 yard push, on our defensive line. Incredible!!
2. Dayne Crist played very poorly. He threw into coverage all day long, and probably should have had 4 or 5 INTs, instead of 2.
3. The offense was anemic, to say the least. I don't care that Floyd and Riddick were out. We should have lined up, fired off the ball, and run it down Navy's throats. I know that Kelly's offense is the spread, but I'm baffled by his absolute insistence on constantly throwing the ball, even when the matchup dictates that we line up and run, run, run.
3. CBS had two clowns in the booth, today. If I heard them talk about about David Rufner, one more time, I was going to put a brick through my TV. These guys have an entire week to learn the names of the players. They are supposed to be professional commentators. It's just getting ridiculous. I'd rather hear a guy who knows the players' names, than listen to some guy who is in the booth just because he played the game professionally.
4. If I were coaching this team, they would run the equivalent of the distance between The Meadowlands and ND's campus, this week. In essence, they would be running home from the game.
A completely lackluster performance, on both sides of the ball. It was reminiscent of the worst efforts I have ever seen, in College Football.
And now I have to go to work, and put in my eight hours. I decided to wait until afternoon to go in, for this?!?!?!?
hey, if kids want to decommit and pass up a free education to one of the best institutions in the country then let them go. there are still plenty of top players that want to be a part of this university and football program. kelly will find the right mix.

First I thought you were 14...but now I'm wondering if you're an overly emotional girl
probably gonna get in trouble for this
Eh.
Anyway...
1. Dayne Crist = Bad. Inaccurate, horrible reads, telegraphed throws.
2. We didn't even try to run the football. It seemed as if we completely abandoned the run game after Navy scored their first touchdown.
3. Duval Kamara looked really good today.
4. T.J. Jones, Robby Toma. Both guys made a couple of plays.
5. Defense was awful.
6. Tommy Rees looked like a far cry from the terrified freshman he appeared to be against Michigan. Made nice reads and only missed one of his six or seven throws.
That's because he was on clean-up duty and no one expected anything from him. The Michigan game he came in and was expected to perform and he froze. Thus Nate "The slowest man on earth" Montana had to come in. I respect Nates Balls for just going for it in that game. Rees was like a deer in the headlights when we needed him. Please don't be one of these guys jumping on the Rees bandwagon. Crist sucked today, and he is still a better option then Rees.

AMENAh, yes. This is the reason I was not originally a fan of Kelly. During the offseason I began to warm up to him and now I'm willing to be patient with him. However, my concerns are still there.
Its hard to win every game 50-35. To win a national championship we would have to run the table without ever having an off day on offense. Of course teams have won titles with the spread, but I think it is much harder.
Playing lights out D and having a balanced, efficient offense is still the easiest way to win games. Just look at what Harbaugh has done at Stanford.
1. This starts with the coaches. Even our awful D last year kept us in the game. I wonder if Ian Williams will blame the coaches again this year for being "Outschemed" again? Our coaches showed no signs of adjustments.
2. Air Force holds Navy to 6 points and f Navy didn't pull in the reigns they put up 42+.
3. Dayne is a good kid but he, Kelly and ND would be better served if he looked for a school fro a traditional pro style drop back offense. BK would not have recruited him and GC would not have come here for this offense. His accuracy and decision making it not very good so far (hence Kelly chewing him out).
3. The combination of playcalling lacked any continuity. couple this with DC's impatience to take what they give him and you get what we got. DC does not have the confidence or competence of someone like Jimmy Clausen to whip the ball into his WR like we need him to.
4. When the score was 35-10 Kelly should have pulled all his starters and put in the 3rd teamers. HE left DC in there too long.
5. Maybe it's just me but if I have a chance to get my offense an extra chance to get some play time using an on-side kick or some timeouts. He let the clock run out against Stanford when we had the ball and he made no real effort to get the ball back against Navy. I would prefer a little window dressing to reduce the humiliation. This could have been 35-24 just liek the Stanford game could have been 37-21. For God's sake at least try!
6. Tommy Reese looked pretty good during cleanup. He is probably alot quicker than DC, made better decisions and was more accurate. If given more reps in practice he could probably be quite a bit better. Nate Montana will not see the field again this year (if ever). I know you guys hate UM but Tate Forcier with this offense would be like dynamite.
7. don't know why we didn't try an on-side's kick on two occasions. The odds of recovering it would be higher than the odds of stopping Navy with our D. Should have tried it to open the second half and after our last TD.
8. I know we shouldn't panic but this to me has been the most lackluster effort on offense, defense, special teams, coaching and overall intensity. Other than some beat downs by USC during their glory years I can't remember a game where we were so utterly outplayed and outcoached. We knew what they were going to do (run, run, run) and we still got embarrassed. Look at the other schools that had much better answers for this than we did. This was supposed to be an off year for Navy. Not sure how these guys bounce back from such thorough domination in every aspect of the game.
9. This is a new low. Charlie only lost because he didn't have a decent PK.
I'm sure similar sentiments are strewn across several different threads.
I cant believe there is an actual thread on this. Post game observations???? I can sum that up in less than 6 words.....WE ARE A TERRIBLE TEAM!
