I liked alot of things about this Pitt game...we largely took away the run, and Baldwin didn't go off, save one play or two. D is just getting better. The O had a nice run of scoring drives....chewed up clock, and changed the pace alot...kept Pitt off balance on D. You can see what this ofense will be when they crank up the tempo. Looks good.

But again on D we had a couple plays where we did some bad things. On the 4th and 1, the safety was Soooo far inside...discipline. the TD to Baldwin...well we all saw that...discipline.

The offense ...concentration boys...drops and missed reads/opportunities.

We still have not turned the corner on either side of the ball being able to close anyone out...as much as coach kelly talks it...these guys aren't yet there.

we still end up playing against the other team, the refs, and our '08/'09 alter ego every damned week...would like to see that go away SOON.

What I take away is that I'm feeling better about Utah...I like our chances better with each passing week.

These next 3 games are huge. Gain come confidence. Work out the kinks without a team breathin down your neck. Utah looks like a HUGE game for the Irish, they just (Utah) better win out.

I totally agree with you on this. Was a little upset at some of the stuff that happened in the game, but it is the end result that matters.

I think we'll see Rudy resting during this "easy" stretch.

These next three weeks are a chance for ND to iron out the kinks and put together a complete game. We, obviously, have not had one yet, and need to drastically improve with execution and consistency heading into our last three games.

That has been obvious for a while now. It's downright ugly at this point to try to get him to go deep. Was hoping Ragone could fill, but we all saw what happened there...

Love the title of this thread (leave it to phgreek to be so clever) because that is what we are all doing here and that's what makes it fun.

Etiquette and all that goody cheerleader stuff on a thread is all good and stuff, and probably necessary if people really believe recruits base decisions based on random forumw where a grand total of maybe 200 people around the world may log on....

I spoke to some other "real fans" on the phone shortly after the game to get their honest opinions. What they say are true, and would not be allowed on this forum.

I get ya...it has certainly become a kinder gentler IE...I did the geroge Carlin FCC banned list test on the language filter...all thats left is tits...now I am a boob guy mind you...but tits isn't exactly an explitive I work with...

I have been known to get angry at the state of Irish football in the past, and fire away...I'm guessing some of my rants from the past would get a line through me. I guess though, I really have no expectations for the year other than improvement...so it was a different perspective.

Hoping for roses and sunshine next year or I won't make it...

and on the recruits thing...I tend to agree that I doubt many are watching this site in particular, or any fan site...nobody who is 18 thinks they would screw up, so even if they saw something critical, they'd probably not connect the dots that someday it could be them...now I have a personal thing about bashing kids by name on here anyway...I just try to avoid it...I think we share that approach...

I did like one post that said we should all be carefull, not because I entirely agree, but because the guy that posted it took the time to spell out why he thought we should tone it down(some part recruits)...many who atempted the admonishments before failed to say anything other than "be more like me"...and that, I could never do.

I too have some distance buds that are fans...and yea, it hasn't been g rated, or all that kind when it comes to the O..."Stalling out", and why they think that happens.

but...here we are, somewhere between ned flinders and archie bunker...I supose its good to just be after a win...

I was at the game, and we were all begging for more safety help against Baldwin. Should be easily fixable.

They are coming to a cross roads here pretty soon in the development of this team. They either stop making it hard on themselves or they start playing with the confident aggression needed to beat the big boys. They are still unsure of themselves and thats to be understood. Pittsburgh should have been handed their butts today. Notre Dame is just a better team. When they take ownership of who they are it will be different.

I'm jealous...what a day for it...not many days like this in South Bend in October...I'm sure it was a day to remember

on the safeties...I hope so. my biggest concern is that we still have a handfull of plays where you are left scratching your head...most of those are from the safety position...although to be fair outside backers have their moments too...most can be categorized as discipline/mental...the difference is, when the safety has a brain fart its a TD...so the guys in that spot, while improved, and improving need to clean it up in these next couple games...
