A transcript has been put up here. Choice highlights - talks about the depth chart moves of Robert Hughes and John Goodman with some praise, Te'o's growing impact on the defense, Crist running the ball more, and other tidbits.

COACH KELLY: Moving forward, it will be a strength having a schedule like this moving forward. I think with our spring and summer preparation, coming into the year we're going to be further ahead when we play tough competition right out of the gates. Maybe it's not showing right now, new offense, new defense, special teams. At times we've been sporadic. But I'm still not in favor of throwing 1AA teams in there. I still feel like we should be playing the kind of schedule we're playing, and I think it's going to pay off for us.

Let's hope this becomes prophetic, b/c the schedule gets beastly in his 4-5th years...

Especially for a ranked D-1 school like OSU, Texas, Florida...... Oh yes, ALL OF THEM LOAD THEIR NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE WITH PATSIES!!!! And then they make a huge deal out of it when they schedule an actual BCS conference team as if they are making it SO HARD for themselves.

If conferences are all that matter, why not schedule a real non-con opponent to help your boys' testes descend prior to hitting the "important" part of the schedule?

It's ridiculous that only 4 D1 teams have not scheduled a D2 opponent. I know ND and Washington are two, I think UCLA, and I can't remember the other.

you may be right, but I though another team was Mich St. I could be wrong but you know how you hear random facts and they just kinda stick with ya, this was one of them, but I could have been drinking and misunderstood.

No excuses, but I highly doubt any other team has played a tougher schedule that ND at this point.

Not even close at this point.

We have played 3 teams in the top 25, with 2 more on the schedule.

We should never, ever schedule a 1AA team. Are schedule is tough year in and year out. It might not be the toughest every year, but when it is all said and done we usually end up playing 6-7 teams every year that at some point are ranked in the top 25. Not too many schools can say that about their schedules. Our future schedules are down right scary. Lets use this season to amp up our play, because here in another couple of years we will definently have the toughest schedule out there.

MSU has played FCS teams for several years. They tend to stock up on wins before losing all of their conference games.

Purdue is 2-2. They beat Western Illinois (FCS, I believe) by 10, Ball State by 11. And they lost to Toledo by 11.

Michigan is 4-0 with a 5 point win over Massachusetts and a defense that currently ranks 93rd nationally.

Michigan State is 4-0 with wins over NOBODY (except us, but we're a 6-6/7-5 team).

Stanford is probably the only legitimately Top 25 football team on our schedule. If they beat Oregon, they're a Top 5 team, IMO.

There are probably several teams that have played tougher schedules.

Very good points with our schedule, but sometimes the ball bounces the right way and things happen. Michigan and MSU might turn out to be decent, who knows right now. I agree that Stanford is the real deal, should be an interesting game this weekend. We should be 3 and 1 right now, and if that was the case our S.O.S. would probably go right in the crapper. Go Irish!

Tennessee has played Oregon and Florida. Both were homes games but thats two top 10 teams. They also have LSU this weekend. Thats a pretty rough schedule.

Good point about Tennessee. I am currently in Nashville and have been following the Vols this year, they play LSU this weekend and will get crushed. They are also trying to rebuild, but Lane Kiffin ditching them, some key players leaving after he did, some recruiting issues (investigations) and they are in serious trouble with their football program because they have a much longer way to go in rebuilding than we do. Kiffin really left that place in a mess and vols nation is not too happy about it. Barely survived UAB last weekend btw.
