He has over 30 offers now, I didnt list all of them. Basically pick a D-1 school and they have offered. He is going to be one to watch, would be surpised (happily) if we were to pull hum from the SEC.

Irish make a play for Flowers - Insider - ESPN

Last July, it was a blazing hot afternoon with the sun beating down at the Florida State football camp.

All Notre Dame All The Time

Notre DameFor complete coverage of all things Notre Dame, from recruiting to the Irish's football and basketball teams and much, much more, check out ESPN affiliate IrishSportsDaily.com every day. IrishSportsDaily.com

Some of the nation's top prospects went through three hours of drills and tutoring before running a 40-yard dash at the end of the camp.

Dog tired, ESPN 150 Watch List recruit Hakeem Flowers (Greenville, S.C./Wade Hampton) clocked a 4.5. The Seminoles coaching staff quickly gave the Class of 2011 athlete his first scholarship offer.

"It was probably the best workout of my life," Flowers stated.

He's been showing out ever since.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Flowers worked out at both receiver and defensive back that afternoon, and the next day Maryland offered. He then attended camps at Auburn and Georgia during the same day. The Tigers have offered, Georgia hasn't, but it seems like most of the rest of the country is already on board in extending Flowers a full ride.

With roughly 30 scholarship offers, Notre Dame is one of the most recent schools to join the party. Coach Brian Kelly offered Flowers on last Wednesday's national signing day for the recruiting Class of 2010.

"He told me he wanted to offer me on signing day and hopes it holds a special place in my heart when it comes around to next year," Flowers explained. As a junior, he caught 50 passes for 800 yards and 10 touchdowns, and has 10.5 second speed in the 100-meter dash.

"I know that Notre Dame is a pretty traditional place and they have a very good fan base and very good alumni."

Flowers is also evaluating scholarship offers from the likes of LSU, Tennessee, Miami, West Virginia and Michigan. He says he'd like to start narrowing his list down this summer, but is nowhere close to doing so.

"Everybody is really the same right now," Flowers said, adding his parents will be the ones helping him with his decision.

"I'm going to be looking for academics and then coaching staff, and then the depth chart and playing time. From there other things will fall in place."

Flowers has a 3.4 GPA and wants to major in business management. He is being recruited by Irish assistant coach Mike Elston, and looks forward to talking with him more down the road.

"I like the coaching staff and their coaching style," Flowers said.

Besides those camps, Flowers has taken in games at Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. He has plans to attend

Sounds like it would be a big win if we got him why is he only a 3 star right now?

For some reason he hasnt put up huge stats. Not sure if they are a running team or what but he hasnt put up those monster numbers scouts like to see. He has all the tools as far as size and speed, would like to see him put up some numbers though.

Well at least 32 scouts like what they see as that's how many have offered and there's only 11-1/2 months left till NSD.

... would like to see him put up some numbers though

A tad picky ...

As a JUNIOR he caught 50 passes for 800 yards and 10 touchdowns.

50 catches.

Rocket had 32 in his best year. Tim Brown, Derrick Mayes, and Tony Hunter never caught 50 in a season. Gatewood and Seymour only surpassed it once.

I totally agree with you and am not questioning his talents. I was the one who wrote about him having offers to every major D-1 program. I was just answering why he was nly a three star. IMO, he will be a top prospect just due to his size and speed alone. I was just comparing him to similiar top prospects like Prater (60 catches 948 yds 9 tds) and Da'rick Rogers ( 66 catches 1300 yds 11 tds). Flowers definatly has the comparable attributes to these top prospects, but was just saying that possibly his stats are why he is only a three star.

Hakeem Flowers went to Texas Jr Day last month but didn't get an offer. Meanwhile he's picked up offers from OU, UM, MSU and ORE.

Wide open... Really hard to get a feel for where Flowers is leaning. He has 40+ offers on the table as of now and doesn't appear to have anything close to a top 5. He really likes Alabama and Texas, but I don't see either of those programs taking him at this point.

Florida State, Oregon, Miami, LSU, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame are some schools he talks highly of, but honestly it's like throwing at a dart board and guessing right now. Florida State was his first offer and neither Clemson or South Carolina have offered, so I'll go FSU in a not so confident projection.

Early Projection: Florida State

Flowers offer sheet continues to grow
By Eric Guimaraes Paslmetto.sports.com
4/13

WR Hakeem Flowers (6-3 189) of Greenville now has 41 offers from across the country. Absent from his offer list are USC (So Carolina) and Clemson. "I've been told they think I am going out of state to play," said Flowers. "I don't know why. Maybe it's because I have so many offers." He says both schools interest him and he would like them to become more involved with him. "They're both good schools," he said. "I like the style of offense Clemson runs and I like the style they run at South Carolina." He was at Oregon during his spring break and says they made his offer official on his visit. "I had a great time," said Flowers. "It was nice going out there and seeing the school." Flowers says that academics is most important in the school he chooses. "Academics is the main thing," he said. "I also want to play for a good coaching staff and a good head coach." Flowers says neither Clemson or USC (So Carolina) has contacted him recently. "I could see myself playing for either school," said Flowers of his interest level. He does not have any favorites nor has he narrowed his list.

His offers include Oklahoma, LSU, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Florida State, Auburn, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, Maryland, Duke, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Duke, Ole Miss and NC State.

Flowers still awaiting contact from locals

By Eric Guimaraes

4/30

WR Hakeem Flowers (6-3 189) of Wade Hampton has over 40 offers from across the country and is still waiting to hear from USC (aka South Carolina) and Clemson. "I get mail from them but I have not talked to anyone," said Flowers. "I think they've talked to my coach, but I haven't heard from them." He continues to speculate that both schools expect him to go out-of-state for college but says that is not the case. "That's what my guess is," he said. "I could see myself playing at either school." Flowers is now considering contacting both schools directly. "I think I'm going to try and talk to them," Flowers mentioned. His latest offers are from Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Oregon. He does not have any favorites.

Any word on how his visit went? Or if he even made it? Lyons, Tuitt, and the Atkinson brothers have been stealing the show today (and rightfully so) but I was wondering if anybody heard about Flowers?

I have some possible insight on how a player like Flowers might well list Michigan as a favorite and even go there. While visiting Virginia Tech and talking to the assistant coaches, one of their best recruiters {Billy Hite} told me that there are many young black men in high school whose mothers play a gigantic role in where their baby boy is going to go to school. AND, a lot more of them than you might like to believe insist on that being a school with a big academic reputation. These moms believe that they cannot trust what the recruiter is saying necessarily about the rating of his school, but they DO trust the national academic ratings. Michigan has consistently placed in the top five state universities in the country, and often first. The Michigan recruiters use these ratings to trump a lot of what other recruiters are trying to emphasize. Hite said that everybody "in the south" has occasionally lost recruits to Michigan for this reason alone. .... for what it's worth.

Or maybe he likes running 7 yard slants every play? That's all he's going to get in **** Rod's offense.

Lol. But actually his top 5 is pretty interesting. GT especially. I find it hard to believe a receiver of his capability would want to go play in the triple option

Georgia Tech worked out pretty well for Demaryius Thomas. They usually have one receiver that they focus their throws on

The reason why he transferred to GTech from Louisville is because of Chad Gaily. He didn't want to sit another year so he stayed. He got caught in the coaching carosel but he definitely didn't want to play in the triple option.

The NFL will draft based on talent/potential more than production tho.

Calvin Johnson...

Calvin Johnson played there before Paul Johnson came in and installed his triple option offense. Their starting QB, Nesbitt, is 9-25 and 200 yds after three games. It is a run first, then run some more offense.

To Kak: I salute you for your knowledge and necessary correction. The mention of Johnson was only to say that GT was a run first pass second offense when Johnson was there too, and yet he wowed the nation and the pros. And, he stands as a recent example of a GT receiver who is bigger than life and plays some role in the psychology of the recruiting situation. --------------------But it may be that GT recruiters would not use the image of their Biletnikoff winner anymore with a kid who might have similar ambitions. My only point in even bothering to mention this, is that all this "real life" stuff is complicated, emotional, not-always-logical, and staff will use everything they've got to sell their product. Who knows? Flowers may have even gotten to meet with Johnson, whom I understand is quite loyal to the university.
