Big Ten Refs

Is it just me or do they consistently... year after year... blow critical calls towards the end of games in favor of the Big Ten team? Last year at Michigan and then this year they blew:

1. Illegal Touching on the last Sparty TD.
2. Block in the back on our punt return.
3. Holding on the Cousins scramble in OT.

These were OBVIOUS blown calls. Conspiracy? Coincidence? Just untalented officials? I don't know what it is but it is freaking maddening.

Agree on all 3 of those calls.

In the ASU - Wisconsin game there was a bull**** "coaching interference" call and a blatant interference in the endzone that would have set ASU up with 1st and goal. They neded up kicking a FG and lost by 1 point.

Seriously this is crap. I know we should have played better, but the refs want to see their teams win...it is all about money. I'm tired of being able to see this obvious BS and having to deal with it.

I firmly believe that a national reffing entity needs to exist for fairness. It has to.

My thoughts are like everyone else but I will not complain. You need anymore reasons for never/ever joining that conference? I hope for the sake of college football that there is an explaination about this because if there is not then college football is a sham. Surely I am missing something here about 0's on the clock. Surely I must not know the rules. If not then this is really bad!

I thought we got a fair shake from the refs. This loss falls squarely on our execution. Can't cry foul every time we lose. Then we become Duke Basketball....

You cant blame the loss on the refs but they can still blow me

Agree. The refs missed a few calls, but they did their #1 job: let the players decide the game on the field. ND just couldn't execute when it counted.

W/E - we didn't play well enough to win.

But they still called a ****ty game. Time clock ran out on that last play. That negates the TD. Push 'em back 5 yards and we probably walk out with a win. You have to admit they favor their own teams. You can sound noble by not blaming them if you want, but I say they sucked out loud.

I don't agree with the "force out' whatsoever. I actually got really annoyed with the commentator when he kept saying the call was the right call.

That "we didn't play well enough to win" is such a bull**** argument. Refs can and do steal games. Look at the SEC last year. You didn't hear people saying "so and so didn't play well enough to beat Alabama." No, they said "so and so got robbed."

This was a systematic way of taking the game out of our hands in the second half of the 4th quarter. The MSU TD they scored was bull****. The block in the back was bull****... and took us from being in position to kick a field goal in 15 yds to needing 35 yds and being in our own end at risk if we went for it on 4th down. The missed holding call on Cousins' scramble kept them in field goal range. And the missed delay of game won them the game.

IF ANY FOUR OF THOSE CALLS GO THE RIGHT WAY WE WIN. Don't tell me our players didn't play well enough to win... they absolutely did.

1. Illegal Touching on the last Sparty TD.
2. Block in the back on our punt return.
3. Holding on the Cousins scramble in OT.

1. The sideline ref threw his hat on the ground to indicate he was out of bounds. i dont see how they say he was forced out
2. Bad call but live it looked like a block in the back. I was expecting a flag.
3. Unless its blatant like the Cowboys play, refs usually wont throw a flag in that situation

You know I actually thought the officiating was pretty fair. And now I find it funny that they were Big East refs. I wonder why? I know last year in Ann Arbor it was Big Ten refs that executed that hose job. A relative of mine was the guy who called back Armando's TD. How do they determine what conference officials do what game for ND?

Usually on away games, we get Big East officials, home games are the visiting teams conference officials except with scUM, we use our own officials(Big East) at home for those games and they use the Big Ten officials.

At away games, we bring Big East Refs, opposing team has its conference refs in the booth.

For home games, opposing team brings its conference refs, we have big east refs up in the booth.

I wonder why it's different for Michigan? Must be how they wrote up the contracts. Too bad we didn't squeak out a victory this season. Because I'm sure we'll be behind the 8-ball again next season in Ann Arbor.
