The Panthers are reporting that Jimmy Clausen signed a four-year contract that includes $2.53 million in guarantees. He signed just in time to start camp. The package could be worth $6.3 million over the 4 years.

Man wasn't Jamarcus Russel's contract worth 68 million or something? It's insane the dropoff into the 2nd round.

I'm glad Jimmy didn't miss any of camp. I wonder if he's wishing he stuck around for a year or not?

I hope to see Clausen starting soon, maybe I'll watch the NFL more if he's playing.

I bet Jimmy comes through big time in the next year or two and restructures his contract for a nice extension and some really nice money worth many times his current contract.

He has to get through Mr. Moore first. As far as Jimmy and GT staying, I could see GT staying but not Jimmy. Not that his draft status was any good this year, it could have been worse next year throwing from a new system.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that. I mean if Jimmy stayed and ND won 10 games and beat SC ect. I think it would have been hard for him to stay out of the 1st round. But who knows what the spread would do to his draft status?

he would have dropped to the 3rd or 4th round because they would say he was part of a gimmick offense and from ND that won't translate into the NFL.....unless of course they like the player i.e. Colt McCoy or Tim Tebow

I loved Jimmy's game at ND, but when he plays the Giants there will be no love! I just hope it's Tuck who punishes him, this way I won't feel so bad!

Im gonna take a lot of flack for this but I thought jimmy was a bit of an arrogant jerk here at ND and the only reason I cheered for him was because he was wearing the gold and blue. Unless he's playing on my Colts I dont really care about him especially after leaving a year early. I udnerstand why he did but there is no reason for me to like him now because he isnt on my team. Jimmy reminds me of a kid who I didnt care for much at all who I played high school football with I dont like him but if he contributes to our team winning games I can forget about it. Once football ended I didnt have to show that guy much love. No offense to any Jimmy fans here

We all know someone just like the person you described. No harm here my man. I had about three on my HS football team. I'm certain the feelings were mutual though.

No harm, no foul. Quite frankly, I feel the same way. Is he a Domer for life....yes. Will I follow him....No. I didn't care for him from a character stand point while he was here, thus, he's gone. Moving on.

Rock on, Mr. Crist...

I am so freakin happy that he signed before camp started.
The Quarterback of my favorite college team was drafted by my favorite pro team.

I think that Golden Tate is more NFL ready than Clausen, but we'll see. I think Clausen would've done great in BK's system. Yeah Clausen was arrogant, but who cares, I still say if he would've won more here at ND people could've cared less about his arrogance.

Being in South Carolina and getting all of the Panthers games on TV down here it will be great to watch Jimmy play...plus the Panthers being my NFL team it will be even better when he wins the starting QB job!

Purple Drank got paid $39million over the course of his NFL 'career'. Including a 3.5million buyout of his last year(this year). If OAK didnt buy out his last remaining year, that 3.5mill would have been 9.5million. By comparison, JC's contract over a 4 year period could get to 6.3 million. JRUSS was paid 3.5million this year to just walk away.....As a lifelong raider fan, I am sooo looking forward to Jason Campbell!

JC made the right decision in leaving ND at the time he did.
