While some ND fans are complaining about the the CMUs, Tulsas, and Utah's on the schedule Swarbrick coninues to work the schedule.

While the Big 10 and PAC 10 were flexing muscles ND extended the series with Boston College.

ND cancelled Army in 2013.

ND has a home and home with Oklahoma in 2012, 2013.

Could the cancellation on the Army game mean that Swarbrick is closing in on a deal with Miami to play a neutral site game in 2013?

Ok I realize Utah doesn't have the tradition...but they have PROVEN to be a very solid program for several years now. They pounded Alabama the year before last remember? Plus, they're joining the PAC-10.

So what's wrong with playing them? They definitely do not belong in a list with WMU...

I think it's not so much that it's utah it's that they have 4 non bcs teams right in a row. If they had games against Miami and Oklahoma like we do in the future or a combination of some bcs teams and then a Utah I don't think it would be as big of a deal. But with the schedule being weak as a whole it makes the Utah game look weak. Just my opinion on it.

Well, I still think its a really good schedule for a first year coach.

Its got enough that if they should win out, I think they'd contend for a national title. That's good enough.

2012's schedule is amazing though. They must have a lot of faith in the current and upcoming class for that.

Oklahoma, Miami, Pitt, Michigan, Michigan State, and USC. Wow. The "patsy games" are all from major conferences as well -- Purdue, Boston College, Wake Forest....

No Rice, Florida Atlantic, or Tulsa here. :)

Update on status of proposed Navy v Notre Dame game. | IAFA

Here's an update on the proposed Dublin game.

Some info from local sources:

Stadium has not been chosen. It may be in the new Aviva Stadium (formerly Lansdowne Road) - Aviva Stadium : Built On Greatness : Home . Aviva is just finished and has much better facilities than Croke Park. Capacity is lower, but revenue about the same as it has more boxes etc.

The game will not be called the Shamrock Classic. Too close to the Irish National Championship game which is called the Shamrock Bowl.

Navy home game. Navy has not committed to playing the game in Dublin yet. It is assumed that they are still waiting to see what the demand will be for tickets/travel packages etc - you'll notice that the travel agents taking bookings, public notices etc. are all written in such a way that nothing is guaranteed.

Notre Dame in talks to host Temple in 2013

Notre Dame in talks to host Temple in 2013
The Owls and the Pussycats.

Notre Dame and Temple are in negotiations for a game in South Bend in 2013 but the deal is far from finalized.

Notre Dame is trying to reestablish some roots in the Northeast. The Irish play Army this November at Yankee Stadium. There is a large recruiting base, especially in North Jersey, that has eroded over the years. When Bergen Catholic superstar Brian Cushing went to USC instead of Notre Dame, the Irish knew that the Blue and Gold of yesteryear has turned into the Gray and Gold.

Temple has played Penn State over the past few years, but that deal has been two-for-one.

Al Golden paid a visit to South Bend over the offseason, but Brian Kelly got the job.

UConn and Randy Edsall capped an incredible season last year by stunning the Irish in one of the year’s most emotional games. It even got Edsall an interview for the Irish job. Temple’s football program is making similar strides.

It will be interesting to see who has more wins this year, Notre Dame or Temple. Last season, the Irish, with Jimmy Clausen, Golden Tate and Michael Floyd, didn't make a bowl game. Temple did and was smacking around UCLA
before disintegrating in the second half of the EagleBank bowl. And Temple didn't have freshman sensation Bernard Pierce, who now has a Heisman campaign going and his own web site

Wow cannot wait for ND vs OU in 2012, the irish could be coming off a national championship and i think we open against them. I'd love to have college gameday come to south bend again, it was a ton of fun when they came for USC back in 05.

2012 is going to be a great year for us, though it will be incredibly difficult to survive that schedule without a loss.

2012 Navy game will be played in Aviva Stadium, Dublin Ireland (new stadium on site of the old Lansdowne Road).

After a slow start, Navy has made some progress on finalising the arrangements and there are only a few minor issues to sort out. Expect an official announcement very soon - you heard it here first.

Sounds cool! What is the approx. seating capacity of this stadium?
