see, the Twins, Rays, Reds, and MANY contending and winning teams (02 Angels among them) that did not spend and won/are winning...

and see the FACT that MLB has had a greater variety of champions during the last 20 years than football (a sport that proclaims parody due to a cap) and has seen nearly every single team in the sport make the playoffs in the last decade...
