I was going to wait a few days to buy it, but I had no will power.
The game definitely seems much better. They made navigating a lot more user friendly and the changes in recruiting seem more fun.
The roster seemed to be missing Rees, Stockton, Filer and an offensive lineman and roster spots for a couple freshman.
The gameplay feels a lot different. The two main things I noticed are defenders cutting abilities and throwing the ball. I like to bring my safety close to the line of scrimmage on occassion, but it's a lot harder to move forward, stop, and run back if the ball is thrown deep. The quarterback also really puts his whole body into long throws, so no more 60 yard bombs at the flick of the wrist. Both changes feel more realistic.
The overall gameplay and how the players moved and catch balls seems very realistic.
Maybe most of all, the blocking is sooo much better than ever before. It's actually better to have to wait for blockers ahead of you now, instead of in the past where you were better off running as fast as possible because your lineman wasn't going to block anyway.
I played the first game against Purdue, coming out on top 49-10, holla!
I had a rough start (turned the ball over on downs inside the Purdue 5) but took control after that.
There were a lot of glitches as the ball was snapped, making it really hard to jump snaps...I hope that goes away.
Crist finished 19 of 23 for 300+ yards and 3 TD's and no picks.
Allen and Wood each got about a half dozen carries and gained about 50 yards a piece and each scored once.
Floyd was quiet most of the game but did catch two long touchdowns, one a sick back of the endzone grab with seconds left in the 1st half...very realistic looking play.
Rudolph barely played at all in the 1st half, mostly because I didn't have him as a WR in any packages and wasn't using an TE packages. But then I got him out there and he finished as the only 100 yard receiver.
Jones had a couple long catches over the middle as did Riddick. And Evans caught a few balls and a TD as well.
On defense, Te'o was injured early and missed most of the game, but I was able to limit Purdue's attack to mostly short passing. KLM was a beast and had 2 sacks and 4 tackles for loss. Blanton had a pick 6 that pretty much sealed the game early in the 2nd half.
Overall, very impressed with the game, although on 7 minute quarters it seemed to fly by. I only did no-huddle about 20% of the time mostly because I was getting used to the playbook and didn't have Wood as a sub in some packages so I was switiching him and Allen out as starters.
I hope the real game on Sept. 4th ends up exactly like this one did.
