I am looking for new ideas for food and beverages for my game day viewing from home. Not tailgate food. I am curious what everyone eats (or mostly drinks) throughout the course of their game day experience from the morning before kick off, through the game itself, and finally to the post win celebration or (please God not this year) the drowning of your sorrows following a loss. Once I get home from work, I will post my famous Bloody Mary recipe. Any reciprocation will be greatly appreciated.

My favorite game time drink last year was Rum and Coke.

Ingredients: 2 fifth's of rum per ND fan, 1 2 litre of Coca Cola, add lemons if desired

Directions: Start game off slow with a glass full of ice and 1/3rd rum and the rest coke. As game goes on keep re-filling and increasing amount of rum. If game is out of hand and not in ND's favor, sit on couch with fifth of rum in one hand and 2 litre of coke in other hand.

Football season I make sure I do a early happy hour friday if I'm going to socialize but I'm in bed by 11pm at the latest. I wake up early and get a work out in so I feel refreshed in the mornings and then spend some time outside to enjoy the weather. I usually come in and cook some breakfast to eat while watching gameday.

Breakfast:

2 Window Eggs with hot sauce and a side of fruit salad.

Then I enjoy game day and usually surf the boards until about 1:30 before I crack open my first beer. I think this year I'm going to start game 1 with some Sam Adams Summer Ale. Then the little lady is usually cooking by that time for the boys before they come over and she makes up some Guiness Sausages and either a tray of hummus for our dips or if she isn't feeling like that she will lay out a nice veggie tray. At half time she will then start on the after game meal of either pasta dish or light meat affair such as kabobs or something of that nature...nothing too heavy.

After the game we usually find a local bar to go either celebrate or drink away the defeat. The guys usually pay for all the drinks for lisa and I, Lisa works hard for us during the football season.

We have always started the day with chocolate chip pancakes, OJ and College Game Day. Don't know why, we just do. Mommy has a mimosa or two, three if its Michigan.

A VERY easy recipe that we always make when we have a big crowd over, Tortellini Soup.
My college boys can even make this because its cheap and easy.

3 cans of Swanson Chicken Broth
2 cans of Italian stewed tomatoes (it will say garlic, oregano, basil on label)
can of mushrooms or fresh mushrooms, doesn't matter which

Put this in a big stew pot and bring to a boil. Toss in one bag of frozen cheese tortellinis. Boil until they are floating, per bag directions.

Serve with fresh grated parmesan cheese and garlic bread. :gbanana:

ahh saturday mornings during college ball, absolutely nothing better. Every saturday i play softball with some buds and we're usually done by 10:30 so i get home & turn on college gameday, but i change the channel when mark may comes on. after that its time to get the Quinn jersey on and head out to paddymac's irish pub where they put a tailgate together for all the irish fans in palm beach county, grab a beer soaked brat and a harp and yuck it up until kickoff at which time my father and i promptly order our pregame guinness's, and watch the action unfold. afterwards we usually have dinner right there at paddymac's which has awesome food and great live entertainment. we have been going there for the past few years i honestly don't know what we did before that.

Alright, here it is! The Bloody Mary recipe I promised. I did not invent this, but I have modified it in some ways to suit my tastes. But here is the basic recipe I make on game days.

Ingredients:

1 Liter Clamato
Vodka
1 tbsp prepared horseradish
2 tbsp wild hot sauce
2 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp worchester sauce
1 tbsp lemon juice
zest of 1 lemon
1 clove garlic
1/4 cup pitted green olives - chopped
Salt to taste

Except for vodka, place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and puree. Fill a glass with ice and add desired amount of vodkay (if you're me, thats a lot). Fill remainder of glass with bloody mary mix. Garnish as you like.

I like to add a skewer with a small piece of fresh cooked lobster or crab and a piece of celery. Pickled green beans are a nice addition too.

Enjoy!
