I was more surprised when that guy picked Wyoming over Texas.

For the first time ever, I hope May is right.

May is more confident then i am. I think 8-9 but it depends on the D.

I think like most of the media, their problem wasn't with Notre Dame , but with Charlie Weis and they let their personal feelings get in the way of being objective.

I would have to disagree. CW couldn't have generated that kind of hate...

Our brand is what creates the hate.

Read what he wrote. Camps got thousands of posts here over several years. He tends to be consistent. We don't have to agree with him but we don't have to misquote him to try and make a point.

I disagree.

ND does enough on it's own to piss a lot of people off who are fans of schools who can not remain indy and make money, or can't graduate all of their players and stay competitive or can't have their team on TV every saturday...

but yeah... CW took that heat and ampd it up... A LOT... most of it was more timing than anything but some actually had to do with his attitude as well...

I tend to think May hated CW more than the school... we shall see.

and sorry, as I, BGIF (thanks for the kind words kind sir) and LA have all pointed out May is wrong on ND far more than he is right... he has two out of five years in season predictions to stand on and a HORRID game to game record... and again, you don't have to watch ESPN to know and keep track of what the guy says... silly Mark May homers.

:)

May is very smug. I really believe he dislike ND but plays it up for TV. I didnt mind Weis's attitude but you have to win to get away wiith it. I like hard ass coaches like Parcell's, as much as the media diss them, theyre players almost always have their back

I agree totally... and I like Weis too (and Ty, average coach, horrid recruiter, good guy)... I wish they had won as much for them as the school I suppose... and Weis brought a lot of great stuff with him... like the Alma Mater and the Navy thing... those are traditions that will be around much longer than the memories of his wins and loses I'm sure...

but I can also see how he fueled the ND haters of the world... no doubt.

lol... something about the Jazz fans on the site...

hahaha. Maybe we watch a different Mark May in Utah. j/k - I have always and will always dislike Mark May. I'm no "May Homer". But he does make good points (Very very very rarely) and knows football.. I guess I can be objective enough to listen to his bulls*** and sort through it for some good stuff.

Either way, I loved Weis and I was a big supporter. I wanted him to succeed so much due to his character and the respect I developed for him alone.

May even gives him credit in this video saying Weis was a great recruiter (but didn't develop talent) so maybe his hate for ND has subsided like Camp pointed out.

Mark May does not like Notre Dame, Mark May is not liked by me, Mark May is right in his assessment. He has to say this because he knows this coach wins football games. I was hoping he would keep to his old routine so Notre Dame could make him look like the @#$hat that he projects but Mark May is not stupid.

I should not get into this hornets nest, but maybe one more opinion doesn't matter. I believe that May is a more complicated man than some would like to believe. He is obviously intelligent and wants to do his job, so he can keep it. On sports TV that often requires taking extreme positions opposite to your co-commentator. May also is a Pitt loyalist and so naturally doesn't like ND. And, he very much disliked ND firing a minority coach. Add these together and you get a guy to "hate". I have seen a "melting" of his negativity and I believe it is due to his grudging admiration for Holtz. May could be salvageable in time, but that would give "us" one less thing to be angry about.

Welcome to the nest. Good comments. I agree. It would be boring if they agreed on everything. The opposition makes for good tv. I have no inside sources but my friend recently met May and Holtz and he said they seemed to be pretty good friends. - In the context of the story my friend said May was grabbing a hot dog at a stand outside their green room and Holtz came up to find him and grab a drink before they watched the game (Vegas Bowl) together.

The nice thing about all this is that we'll settle the issue by winning games on the football field. All I hope for is one less prominent media figure who makes negative comments about our team---that has to help us with young men thinking of coming to ND. And that is why I hope that May becomes friendly with Lou and softens up on ND football. BK can end the whole issue by winning like it seems he's destined to do.

Holtz' comment on May was beautiful... something along the lines of

"We men and women of Notre Dame can't blame Mark may... it's not his fault... he went to Pitt, which means he is without a real education... so you can't expect him to act and talk like an intelligent person."

that's just off the top of my head but it was something along those lines... classic stuff.N

We all know ND has sucked since the Holtz Era. When we start winning again things will turn around. I think Brian K is going to build this team into one fast paced team who will soon dominate. How long its going to take its the other issue. But if we when this year 9 games, recruits will flock to ND over schools such UCLA, Standford etc.

Mark May is Racist.

Ill say 9-4. 8-4 with a bowl win. I think well finish strong and be ranked around 19th at the end of the season.
