Camped at ND last week trying to make a name for himself but he's a DB (S) which is a need for us, hoping others have more info than what I've found. Wish good luck to the fellow Canuck.

Unless he completely blows up in Canada this year, he's an extreme longshot to get an offer. Sounds like a great kid from his interviews though, so I wish him well and I hope he gets that college scholarship he covets...

A surprise from our neighbor
Summer prospect camps are always an opportunity for relative unknowns on the recruiting market to get their name out to college coaches. No one accomplished that better Tuesday than Windsor, Ontario athlete Arjen Colquhoun. The 6-1, 180 pound prospect did not let a minute go by without jumping in for another rep. During one on ones, he literally took every other rep on one side of the field, either as a wide receiver or a defensive back. Though he showed some pass catching skills and some range with his taller frame, his most impressive trait is his ability to break on the ball on pass defense. Taller safety prospects usually have a rough time in one on ones against quicker receivers, but Colquhoun was fearless in breaking on the ball and being aggressive with receivers. On several occasions, he disrupted a shorter route, or broke on the ball to record a pass breakup. Colquhoun impressed at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp just one week ago, but Tuesday’s performance proves he is worth a long look north of the border.

The Sound Mind Sound Body camp was held two weeks ago at Wayne St. It's run by a former San Diego Charger player and had about 500 kids from the Michigan and surrounding area attend. Rich Rodriquez and Mark Dantonio were at the camp. According to a post on a MSU board Colquhoun won the award for fastest 40 with a low 4.4. I didn't find any results to confirm that.

With only 6-9 slots left to fill, Kelly has to be cautious but then again aggressive prospects with speed aren't beating ND's door down at DB or at WR and Kelly's style of play on both sides of the ball requires it.

kids got speed and ball skills according to the article... cant hurt the coaches if they check him out. we only have limited scholarships left for 2011 though, so they can definately be picky... if its not a sure thing, i say no go.

That being said, with speed like that, along with the impression he made at camps with his aggression and ball skills, i think he will get offers for sure. we got along time until february.

Hey guys I just joined mainly to talk about this kid and give some info. I went to high school with him and he is a great athlete. He is an All-Ontario type baseball player, played on my high school basketball team that got bronze in the provincial finals, was on the 4x400m relay provincial champions, ran 48.4 in the 400m, 11.05 in the 100m, and is considered among the best high school players in Canada. He plays at W.F. Herman, which is known as a perennial power in Canada. It is the same school that O.J. Atogwe of the St. Louis Rams went to, as well as a CB that plays for Duke right now named Chris Rwabukamba. There are a couple videos of him on youtube. I don't know if I can post the links on here or not, so I guess I won't unless someone tells me it is ok. He has a highlight film up and a bunch of track videos. If you notice in the highlight video, he even played some middle linebacker for us which is ridiculous for his size, but the kid is tough.

Thanks for the heads up! Here's the link for his highlight reel: YouTube - Arjen Colquhoun #7 - Highlight tape

The defensive highlights are toward the end. I wish coaches would show more coverage plays on highlight reels in general. It is tough to get a good sense of his overall potential in the defensive backfield. He certainly has good vision and very good strength for his size (take a look at where he knocks two guys over on a cross block). He is definitely fast, although he may be a bit of a long strider - which may mean he does not have elite quickness. Overall, it's tough to tell. The kid looks like he gives 110% on each play, though. We shall see...

YouTube - 2010 OFSAA Open Boys 4x400m Final
Winning the provincial championships in the 4x400m in 2010. He runs last with the green shirt and white shorts

YouTube - 2009 OFSAA Open Boys 4x400m Final with splits
Finishing second in the 4x400m in the provincial championships in the 4x400m in 2009. Watch his comeback though, it is ridiculous. Shows the heart the kid has. He is in all black. He runs the anchor leg, and when he gets the baton, he is in 4th. Watch him run all the way up to 2nd and dive across the line to win by a nose.

Fast, plays multi positions and is a winner all over the place which BK loves. Maybe I can wear a team Canada jersey with his # to games should he end up in South Bend. Can travel with his family as they'd have a hookup for tiks too. Guess I'm getting ahead of myself but I'm wishing him the best of luck. Thanks for the info.

4.39 is good. Do they run the 40 Meter dash up in Canada?

Not that I know of, 100 metres is the shortest distance. Then again I went to a school of 400 people that hadn't had a football team in 20+ years as it cost too much.

Windsor's Arjen Colquhoun shines at Michigan State camp | freep.com | Detroit Free Press

One of the standout performers at Monday’s Michigan State camp was Arjen Colquhoun of Windsor (Ontario) W.F. Herman High School. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back prospect impressed the MSU coaches in the testing and drill portions of the camp.
Colquhoun ran 40 yards in 4.42 seconds and had a broad jump of more than 10 feet. In the last 10 years of the MSU camp, the number of players that have clocked those numbers can be counted on one hand.

We need to offer this guy. I have a feeling he is a total sleeper at DB.

He did camp at ND and maybe he is on their radar, but I think they've got bigger fish to fry first.

Losing Badger to a mission I'm not so sure. We could really, really use depth at DB. Has he still only picked up an offer from Rice or are there more?

We lost CB Spencer Boyd before we lost Badger. We're shy 2 freshman DBs and we were short with them. This kid's got speed but lacking experience. ND needs somebody ready for PT as a freshman corner. I suspect this kid's gonna need some seasoning time to catch up. I have no idea how much he'll get where he plays.

He's been lighting it up at camp (ND & MSU). I wouldn't be surprised if they offered him early into the season after they get some footage of him. Maybe they'll send up an asst. to take a look at him during his Senior HS season. I haven't seen any video on him yet.

Well he could handle that Camp Kelly snow running deal eh? Because when you cross the river into Windsor there is a wall of cold air right on the border eh? So take off with your Canadian bashing you guys. I say offer the kid. He runs like the wind and he's versatile as all get out. Just have to teach him not to leave the field on 3rd downs eh!

Spartans set to add '11 prospects | freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Canadian speedster Arjen Colquhoun of W.F. Herman High in Windsor will also be on campus again soon. SpartanMag.com received confirmation from his coach that the 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect is planning on visiting Michigan State with his family next week.
Colquhoun has yet to receive a scholarship offer, but he is high on the Michigan State radar after a standout performance at camp earlier this month.

Verbally committed to Michigan State today.

Michigan State has picked up a commitment for the Class of 2011 in defensive back Arjen Colquhoun of Herman (Windsor, Ontario, Canada).

Colquhoun, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety, selected the Spartans over Rice and Central Michigan.

He posted a 4.55 40-yard dash, 4.29 20-yard shuttle and 36.5-inch vertical at the Detroit National Underclassmen Combine.
