a front runner calling someone else a douche bag???

He's been warned. Let's leave it at that, thanks bene!

Oh, and dre, the name-calling from georgia was unwarranted. Also, the Lakers would like the thank the Celtics for playing the Finals and giving us a worthy challenge. Unfortunately for you...BACK-TO-BACK baby!

my condolences - the celtics are dead

KG is nothing but a jumpshooter, who cant take it the rack anymore. he now has to revert to his minnesota days when everyone said he was a soft, jumpshooting bigman - kinda like Dirk Diggler in Dallas.

Allen has good days left, but its not enough.

Sidney Poitier aka Paul Pierce has seen bettah days too.

Rondo? take away the 3 Hall of Famers he plays with and your left with Mike Bibby 2.0. At least Bibby has a jumpshot

They can bring in Starbury, Nate "I'm gonna shoot you out of the game' Robinson, or Josh Childress....it doesnt matter, they cant beat the lakers and wont beat whatever superteam Lebron goes to.

Lakers won't threepeat. Not if LeBron, D-Wade, and Chris Bosh sign with the same team like they're thinking they might.

I'm not the biggest fan of the NBA, but i respect the hell outta what KG, Allen and Pierce all did. Not many guys would put there egos aside like they did.

And it would make sense for Jackson to come back he has the easiest job in the league.

The best team, the best active player in the game. A team that's already won back to back titles so they have playoff expirience and an orginization that if mid way through the season something is missing they will go out and get it. I'm not saying that he's not a great coach i'm just saying he's got a great situation in LA.

...Not many guys would put there egos aside like they did....

the only one that set his ego aside was Ray Allen...

Garnett is all ego..thats why Phil Jackson baited him at the beginning of the finals by calling him out. All his chest pumping, cusing in the face of opposing players, staring down the backboard apparatus is all about ego.

Did you forget that Sidney Poitier(pierce) said he was the best player on the planet? or how about at the end of game 2 when he told the fans at staples arena that 'we're not coming back to LA'? or at the end of game 2 against ORL he looked into the camera in an on court interview and said BOS was gonna sweep?

in addition to being wrong on both counts, he showed his ego was out of check...who looks into a live camera and makes those comments? arrogant ppl with large egos do stuff like that.

I see ego all over place in Boston....maybe its because im a lifelong laker fan and lifelong celtic hater...but KG and Pierce needs a good dose of humble pie.

Chicago will come out of the East and lose to LA. The Lake Show just signed Steve Blake, ya know. :)

Three-peat bound.

I get what you're saying about the 'ego' thing, but this is apples and oranges as far as Lebron and Wade go. See, LeBron and Wade are entering their absolute peaks in their careers, where they are clearly 'the man', and Wade already has a ring. But with the Cektics, all 3 of those guys were entering the twilight of their careers, and they hadn't won jack yet. It was either put aside their egos or go ringless forever.

Also, it was completely different because LeBron and Wade both need the ball in their hands to do their thing, especially in the 4th. Garnett has NEVER wanted the ball in the 4th quarter (see: Game 7...one for three FGs for the hottest Celtic. Hmmmmm...3 shots KG? Really?), and Allen never been an elite one on one player. So only Paula Pierce needed the ball in his hands late. That was BIG for them as far as egos went. But even after saying all that, they still had troubles at first and they still had to have meetings, b/c yes, they did have to put their egos aside. But Wade and Lebron and Bosh and (possibly Rose) will have a much more difficult transition IMHO. (But still, as a die-hard Laker fan, those 2 guys together scare the shit out of me!)

As for your Phil comment...it's not as easy as it seems. Kobe is a difficult SOB to coach, in that you have to weave him into the team unit, as he is kind of a loner and madly focused on winning, being liked be damned. And then you have to manage the egos of all those stars...Kobe, Gasol, Odom (getting him to buy in and come off the bench), Bynum (wanting the ball more a la a young Kobe to prove he's arrived), Farmer increasingly wanting more minutes, etc etc. And then you have Ron Artest, a one-time offensive force who wants to prove he can still score, and oh yeah, he's clinically INSANE. All this with a fanbase expecting a championship or bust. Not an easy job at all IMO.

It took me a long time to warm up to Jackson. I was not a believer when he came from Chicago (talk about an easy gig by the way, coaching Jordan?). However, the guy has shown he can coach and mentor in the toughest of circumstances. He kept Rodman in check for a while, settled down Robert Horry, contained the Kobe/Shaq drama, and has now revitalized the bizarre circus that is Ron Artest. Hands down the greatest coach ever! Not just in terms of rings or wins, but in terms of how he handles people. In this day and age, that is probably the toughest part of coaching in professional sports.

On a side note, he had an interview at one point during the playoffs and a reporter was trying to bait him in to talking about a supposed "pay cut" he might face from the Lakers. The figures were something like going from 12 mil a year to 5 mil a year. He wouldn't say the phrase "pay cut". He said it would be a restructuring, you can't call it a "pay cut" because 5 mil is still an amazing amount of money. He said calling it a pay cut would almost be vulgar. I just thought that was really cool of him to be so honest and say that. Seems like he is a very down to earth guy.
