no shit, I have been waiting to hear May's take on ND now that CW is gone... I asked myself this spring... "Did May hate Charlie or does hehate ND??? We'll find out when he previews them this year..."

guess this means he hates CW... don't worry though... ESPN has many other ND haters to take the lead here...

who is that white guy who is a huge Texas homer that flat out said grad rates and gpas matter nothing in cfb... it's all about wins, I could care less if the players go to class as long as they win come saturday. He HATES on Notre Dame...

he was on two years ago in terms of callingwin loss records... that's it... and he often has us losing games that we have not shot at losing... see Nevada last year...

my point was his hate started literally on that one cfb live show in 05 where Kirk built up CW and he and Corso stated ND would lose five games to start the year and that CW hasn't proven anything... he came out of nowhere on that one show as the main ND hater... he had no history of it before then... so I wondered if his tune would change now that CW is gone.

Samething I was thinking. He blasted Weis earlier this offseason on a ESPN show, at the mention of Charlie's name he rolled his eyes kinda like Hannity with Obama. It does seem that May can't stand Weis, for whatever reason, no matter where he's coaching.

Thank you... I don't watch ESPN anymore except for their actual sports broadcasts... but I have flipped channels past ESPN during cfb live and heard him open his mouth maybe four total times... EVERY TIME he either laughed at the "teams that actually care about academics... which of course don't matter at all." Or he flats laughs at Notre Dame for whatever it is they are talking about at that moment... even if Notre Dame isn't the topic... he'll just bring them up.

I was more referring to overall ND seasons. He predicted 9 wins last season so he actually gave them too much credit. He did pick Nevada to win. He said ND would have trouble with their run game. Which we did at moments (very few). But that Nevada doesn't have a passing attack and their passing defense is very suspect which ND will have to attack.

Regardless, he consistently booked them as overrated and I'm afraid he was right all those years.

Don't get me wrong... Mark May is the ultimate douche but he has called it like it is and hasn't pulled punches but he is optimistic about ND this year, even if it's because Weis is gone.... I hope he is right.

Doesn't anybody know about Mark May and his hate for ND? Lou Holtz explained in some interview, (I don't know where to find it) that when Mark May played for Pittsburgh, his team was knocked out of the bid for the Sugar Bowl or some other big bowl by Notre Dame. Ever since then, he has hated how ND supposedly gets preferential treatment.

That's where his hate comes from.

and no, he has not been right on us every year... people give him too much credit... he has been right ONE YEAR... and greatly underestimated us twice... and he has frequently been wrong on his game to game take on ND... he is wrong far more than right with his ND predicitions. Has he been right before? Yes. This is not my pro ND take... this is my unbiased take from the eyes of someone who actually breaks down what he says from week to week, year to year... and although it may sound like sour grapes it's simply looking for consistentcy in pointing out he also never retracts a thing when he is wrong (which he often has been) and is the first guy to mention how dead on he was when he is right... only in terms of ND

no I don't... ANYMORE... up until about this time a year and a half ago (maybe more) I listened to the Herd and watched cfb live/gameday with religious fervor... some of the regs here could attest to that if they paid attention, idk... I then grew beyond tired of the flipping on topics and or calling any team the greatest ever or a horrid all time laugher week to week simply to get people angry and rile people up... it's child's play. for about 18 or so months maybe more I don't listen to espn radio or watch any of their programming... and btw, I'm a notre dame fan... I don't need to watch a freaking thing to know what May says about us... it's posted here every time he says it.

and sorry 7-6 is not 6-6...

and even if you take that play... 2-3 is his mark... wow, that's amazing stuff that qualifies as nailing us every year for sure... all while picking against ND it just about 80 percent of every week to week game (I think that's fair) despite what his early year picks were...

6-6 season is what he predicted.. You can't predict a bowl victory or loss in August when you don't know who they play, bowl bid they get, if they accept, ect...

I'm would say he was right the year ND was #2 for a bit and he said they were overrated. Pretty sure that was correct unfortunately. But I know we can agree that May is an idiot

I believe his segments with Holtz is purely based on entertainment purposes. Someone has to be the heel/realist.

Listen, it's really simple. He picked ND to lose pretty much EVERY GAME ever since we fired Ty. The first 2 years he was dead wrong. The next 3 years he was right a lot. So what does that prove? It proves that if you pick the same result every single time in sports, regardless of analysis, then you are going to get it right sometimes. He's been right, he's been wrong, but it's worthless b/c his prediction is ALWAYS the same: ND loses.

And yes, he said we'd win 9 games last year...and then predicted pretty much every week that we'd lose. I'd ask my wife...we only play 12 games, he picked us to win 9, but yet this is the 5th week in a row he picked against us...how does that work mathematically? Hmmmmm....

Here is what I wrote on ISD before I saw this thread:

The man carries grudges like a child, plain and simple. He was pissed that Ty got fired (ignoring the fact that it was the right thing to do) and took it out on CW. He predicted ND to lose every game for 5 years. At first, for 2 years, he looked like a baffoon (sp), and then the last 3 yrs he looked like a genius and everybody said how right he was. No, he just always picked against ND b/c he's a child.

Now he likes ND again because we fired CW. BFD.

He has also been a HUGE sc honk. But he HATED the Kiffy hire, so now he talks bout the sanctions being correct and yada yada yada. Now I'm sure we're going to love this clown for the next few years b/c his grudges have switched.

But for me, I'll never forget his smug, smiling face w/ his fake non-prescription tiny glasses staring into the camera after asking for a prediction on a ND game and saying, "Loss". "F" him.

Read what he wrote. Camps got thousands of posts here over several years. He tends to be consistent. We don't have to agree with him but we don't have to misquote him to try and make a point.

Congratulations on having thousands of posts. I wasn't misquoting him.. he said it. I apologize for him if what he said was in present tense or as a current activity.. and not in "I don't watch ESPN anymore but when I did" tense.

I will never question his OPINION again since thousands of posts and he ACTUALLY breaks down or USED to break down Mark May week to week and year to year.

Thought this was a forum of opinions by Notre Dame fans.. My misunderstanding.
