per ESPN radio in Dallas, the reporter from orangeblood.com says his sources say Texas will stay in the Big 12

but right after their commercial break ESPN's "sources" say most of the Big 12 to Pac 10

Update from the mods: Texas has decided to decline the Pac 10's offer, and apparently will stay in the Big 12 (which doesn't have 12 teams anymore, but the Big 10 does have 12 teams LOL)

I really dont see any of these teams staying in the Big12.
What doesnt make sense to me, is that their commissioner is apparently saying theyll get a tv deal with about $15-17 million/year.But why would they stay in this conference for that money, when they'll most likely be down to 9 teams. Nebraska and Colorado have already left, and it's looking pretty certain that Texas A&M is gone to the SEC....why would they wanna stay in a conference with no chance at a conference championship?
I just dont think it works....I think its a done deal that theyre all gone.

what they're talking about down here is to convince a&m to stay and even bring in TCU and Arkansas in, so if a&m decides to decline they.still have a "possibility" of the two other schools.

So many damn rumors.

I just talked to a Mizzou buddy of mine, and the latest whispers that he's hearing is that Texas A&M could bring Missouri with them to the SEC to give them that 14th team. Of course, it's just as ridiculous as all those other rumors out there, and it'll probably never happen, but just thought I'd share that. Missouri, by the way, has now been linked to 5 different conference including their own. All indications are that the EuroLeague will be calling them next week.

Bottom line though, is that Texas is in the driver's seat and they are LOVING IT. They are more of a mover in all of this than even ND...

You can scratch the Big10 from Missouris List.

ESPN is hilarious.

They latch on to rumors, print it as inevitable fact, then immediately retract their statements when a hotter/crazier rumor appears.

You may be right, but Texas likes being the big fish. If they can negotiate a league TV contract favorable to Texas, their preferance may well be to stay (traditional rivals, low travel costs, parents able to see kids play, etc.). TCU would jump at the chance to join. Houston is building a new stadium. Memphis just got a financial pledge from FedEx to help them into a BCS conference. The league could easily get back to 12 teams. Time will tell.

LITERALLY refreshed the College Football ESPN page and the article went from Texas' PAC-10 Commitment Imminent to this:

Reports: Texas Longhorns leaning toward 10-school Big 12 - ESPN

F'ing joke.

And if this is true, ND is going to stay independent, and all this drama will finally end. Please let it end.

Watching the Bama-Clemson baseball game right now on ESPN and they just reported what is being said on orangeblood.com that Texas is now going to stay with the B12 and start to negotiate a tv contract.

I wouldn't take anything as a definite with this. The Big 9 could in no way have an appealing TV market. What do they have? Houston and Dallas? San Antonio? Oklahoma City? St. Louis? Not enough.

Depends on who they add to get back to 10 teams if they decide to do so, but all they really lost was the Denver market with the loss of Colorado. If the money is even remotely close to what it used to be it's now divided by 10 instead of 12. The Big 12 doesn't share their revenue equally so UT now gets an even bigger piece of the pie. Seems like a good deal for them if it all works out.

Texas A&M hasn't defected yet so they are still at 10.

Sorry about that. The post I was commenting on referred to them as the Big 9, plus with all the rumors flying about I lost track of who's in/out. Oversight on my part.

Texas will stay in the Big 12, as they declined the PAC 10 offer, per multiple reports...

I just read on Texas A&M forum that the Aggies decided to stay. Absolutely no confirmation on this, but that is what is posted, and those fans aren't happy either. They don't have much love for UT.

ESPN is reporting this as well.

I guess the question is whether they stay at 10 teams or go for Utah, BYU, Arkansas, etc. to get back to 12 teams.
