Well, getting to Nat'l championship games isn't the goal. Winning them is.

And if we're not playing tough teams that means we most likely don't deserve it and also that we'll be completely destroyed by a better team.

Then, we'd have the whole college football world with plenty of evidence as to why we:

A.) suck
B.) are entitled
C.) can't win big games

It would be a huge step back and recruits will take notice.

I hate Kiffin as much as anyone, but I'm not dreaming about him failing and beating demoralized USC teams. I'm dreaming about playing them to end the year and they are 11-0 and we destroy them.

They deserved what they got today, but we shouldn't have to rely on the NCAA to do our job for us!

ND is always going to be in bigger bowls than it probably should be and if they are undefeated they will be in the national championship. If USC is bad and UM is mediocre you know what our schedule will look like - OSUs and if they go undefeated they go to the national championship. I've posted in other forums comparing OSUs schedule to ours over the last couple of years because OSU has been lauded as having a strong schedule and we have been lambasted for a weak one. We have almost the exact same schedule as them if you go team by team.

I would still love to beat USC this year but them going 12-0 and not going to the NC would be sweet too! I think UCLA benefits from this ruling more then anyone!

While it is true that none of the new recruits were involved with the program during the time that these sanctions cover, I'm not sure they should be given a free transfer because everybody was well aware that the possibility of sanctions was hanging over the program. They rolled the dice and lost. While Kiffin may have promised them this would all amount to nothing, it is their fault for believing him.

Inside perspective on Reggie

Inside perspective on Reggie

I have a kid working for me who ran track for USC while Bush was there and he told me that one day Reggie is driving an old Ford Ranger and the next week here is the pimped out Impala (probably courtesy of Snoop). Here is a link where Reggie lived while at USC. Not exactly the ND dorms.
The same thing was happening with Joe McKnight and his Range Rover. We should count our lucky stars that we didn't actually sign either one of these guys given their lack of character.

Time to sit back and watch what happens to USC recruiting and if ND and BK can captitalize. I will be having a few words with my USC counterparts here in LA. About frigg'n time!

An illegal player, an illegal play. Correct. That game was bs and we should have won.

But a BCS title game berth? We would have gotten smoked.

Smoked for sure, but I wouldn't have minded seeing them make it to a BCS game.

why, it's one game that never happened??? Anything could have happened... how many of these BCS title games have had the underdog win??? We took SC to the end... so did Texas...

I wonder if any chance for leniency went out the window when USC chose to hire Kiffin who managed to commit 6 secondary violations in only 14 months while at Tennessee.

I'm not sure if it would've mattered who they hired, but hiring someone who was there during the bush era and so many secondary violations during a short time at Tennessee certainly did not help.

You saw the Fiesta Bowl.

The defense had no answer for Troy Smith and his receivers Ginn and Holmes, and he couldn't hold Vince Young's jockstrap.

Damn, 30 over 3 years is a real killer!!!!!!!! Couple that with the 2 yr bowl ban and SC just got bent over. Love it! When will Garrett get fired LOL.

Seriously though, USC simply cannot miss on ANY recruits. Think about it...they get 15 a year for the next 3 years. That cripples their depth, and if they miss on just one or 2, which happens everywhere (think, Vadel Hazelton), or they have guys that get injured, or they have guys that have career-ending injuries (think Jarvis Jones), they'll have a couple walk-ons playing major roles.

With these scholarship losses, SC will have to have everything go right - everyone they sign plays to their potential, no one gets homesick, no one gets injured, none of the upperclassmen transfer - in order for them to be a national powerhouse. Highly unlikely. They have a 5 year climb back into national prominence, and they're being led by a guy who has never sniffed a winning season as a head coach.

I'd like to say I feel sorry for them, buuuutttttt, you reap what you sew. And to think, those scumbag coaches left Tennessee after one year and tried to classlessly steal Tennessee commits on the way out so they could go coach at SC; well, they are getting what they deserve.

Oh, and one more thing SC fans are ignoring - old man Kiffin will be retired in 2-3 years, so there goes their trump card on defense!

"Oh, happy day (oh....happy day!)"

30 schollys in 3 years!!!!

I want to laugh in the face of Mark May, Lee Corso, and all the other USC butt buddies...

Might I add that I would also like to know how SC recruits, that chose U$C over the likes of Notre Dame, feel right now... Yeah I'm lookin at you Seantrel and Prater... How could those kids be that dumb to go to a school that was going to be sanctioned... I don't want those morons at a school with prestige and honesty like Notre Dame.

I can't describe the euphoria I feel right now!!

This vacating games stinks. They used ineligible players, basketball and football. Throughout the history of college sports up, until the NCAA waffled on Bama's last go round, if you played an ineligible athlete you forfeited all the games he participated in.

The forfeit is because the team cheated and they pay the price for that. The other teams should not be saddled with a loss when the other side cheated.

The post-season ban, loss of scholarships, etc are punitive.

But the punishment has to start with automatic losses for cheats.
