I suspect he had a conditional verbal over the weekend depending on today's MLB draft. Hard to pass up the big money if he goes in the first. Either way, good luck to him.

As stated before, he is a junior in HS, therefore he cannot be drafted.

I don't know about baseball, but I know in hockey hs juniors can't be drafted, so maybe baseball is the same.

High school juniors can't get drafted. Bryce Harper(the soon to be #1 pick) is 17 years old and would be a high school junior, but the only reason he is eligible is because he got his ged and is now going to a community college to play baseball

If someone asks/responds once more about Starling and the MLB Draft this year, I'm going to spear them.

Bubba told Pete Sampson (II) that he ran an electrically timed 4.38. Pete says he is a ND lock to this point and will be talkin with him sometime this week about his visit. He said he is also shocked about him not committing this weekend, but that its probably coming soon. Bubba is just probably seeing if his feelings for ND are the same 3-4 days later as they were this weekend.

I think he and his family are doing what they should. They're taking their time, looking at the options, and making an educated decision. I don't know why everyone is getting all bent out of shape because he didn't commit while on campus.

That's a fast 40 time

Faster than Golden Tate! At 6'4" 205 lbs, he could come to ND, decide that he wanted to spend more time on baseball, and become an All-American wide reciever in his spare time.

how big of a get will he be if he ends up with us, would he be the greatest in many of years,
or is clausen and teo still above him, if he were to commit.

I would say that Teo and Clausen are bigger, but I think this would be a great pickup for the Irish!!!!

Let's don't get carried away now. He would definitely be a good pick up, yes, but .... He's not even rated one the top 4-5 QB recruits in the country, let alone one of the top overall football prospects. Would I like to see the Irish land him though .... most definitely!

the benefit of the pistol is that the Running game still can be down hill and less predictable.... but the way Kelly uses end arounds and slip screens off sets this. I actually rather The QB be in the Full shot gun to be honest.

I think the power run game opens up with the pistol. I would not mind seeing it 4-5 times a game even with the qb's we have now. I just think when u need 2-3 yards on a 3rd or 4th down having the qb in shotgun formation makes it a little tougher.

Agree completely. I remember cringing last year watching Cincy in the shotgun on the 1 yard line (granted our goal-line offense was nothing to brag about last year), but either way it will be interesting to see how Kelly will use Starling if he does indeed commit.

In my opinion shotgun formations on the goal lines are great. because it makes the CBs and LBs honor the the WRs and TEs...

This makes it a little less congested and as long as the OL get a good surge the RBs should be able to get into the Endzone even if they do start a few yards deeper...

You could also do some PA fake hand offs and get a HB screen or other receivers. (Ala Colt's shotgun goal line formations).

Either way Bubba Starling would be a multi-threat option on the goal line, putting ND in a great situation!
