The only connection to ND is a Rivals article that ran Sunday on Rivals 5 Star Academy Event L.A.

Adam Gorney
Rivals.com Football Recruiting

WESTWOOD, Calif. - De'Anthony Thomas was late to Sunday's Rivals.com Five-Star Academy at UCLA but just like on the football field it did not take the Los Angeles Crenshaw star running back long to make an impact.

Thomas, one of the nation's top players, did video interviews. He traded cell phone numbers with other players. And then he dropped news about his recruitment and how he and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei prospects Max Wittek and Victor Blackwell have talked extensively about playing in college together.

"That would be like Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith and Troy Aikman," Thomas said. "That would be a dangerous offense right there.

"Me, Victor and Max have a really good relationship like that so we talk. Every visit we go to we're all supposed to go together and be like a family."

Thomas, who said Florida has increased its interest and he might visit Texas when he's there for a track meet, went to Cal for its recent junior day with Wittek and Blackwell and the Crenshaw standout - nicknamed The Black Mamba - has also been to Southern Cal. Wittek has also been offered by the Trojans but Blackwell is still waiting for one from SC.

"I know I'm high on their recruiting list, I might be one of their next few to be offered," Blackwell said. "But I know they have a lot of receivers who just committed in this last class and they just got a big-time sophomore (Jordan Payton) who just committed so they've been lagging with the offer because they just got all these players."

Blackwell has Cal, UCLA and Notre Dame as his top three. He raved about coach Rick Neuheisel, likes Cal's mix of education and football and said the recent offer from the Irish is "huge."

That last paragraph naming ND in his Top 3 and that the recent offer from the Irish is "huge" is all there is. We've been waiting for someone to corroborate the offer.

Blackwell camped at Southern Cal last summer. As much as he would like to play there they may be full up with WRs already.

That is nice to hear if true, because this kid is legit! My niece goes to this school (and my nephews went when Matt "pothead" Leinart was there), so I follow Mater Dei sports closely. Love this kid. Usually MD studs go to SC, so for him to have UCLA and ND in his top 3 is music to my ears. SC is loaded at WR and have some super-studs on their radar, so maybe they're not looking at Blackwell, but this kid is nice guys. Wittek is considered to be 'all-SC' according to their fans, and they all LOVE the 'Black Mamba' (he's the recruit I hear about most for them), but I haven't heard much about Blackwell from them. Hopefully they don't offer...

offered per rivals

Can you provide a cite other than his Rivals profile?

Has Irish Illustrated, a Rivals affiliate, run an article on Blackwell's ND offer or at least mentioned it on their premium forum?

As noted previously Rivals is the source of the article linked. That's a circular reference, not confirmation.

ISD, B&G both list him as a prospect or interested party. They both have a much better track record reporting ND offers that Rivals or Scout.

Blackwell may have an ND offer but there is no confrimation of that so far.

Scout bumped him up from #13 to #9 WR.

He also picked up offers from ORSt and FSU.

No place like home
Receiver Victor Blackwell (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) is one of the more highly regarded receiver prospects on the West Coast. On Sunday, he flashed the impressive talents that have earned him more than a handful of offers to date.
"I have Notre Dame right now, UCLA, Oregon State, Washington, California and Tennessee," Blackwell said. "My favorites right now is UCLA, Cal because they are top notch, Miami and Georgia."
The 6-1, 185-pound pass-catcher plans to take in a pair of camps this summer.
"I think I might go to Cal because they have an All-American showcase I want to attend and maybe Rising Stars," he said.
While early in the process, two Pac-10 coaches have caught the eye of the talented prospect.
"I have built the best relationships with Coach [Kevin] Daft from Cal and I like Coach [Rick] Neuheisel a lot. He's a really cool guy," Blackwell said.
He is a looking for a number of things when picking a school, including a location close to his home, playing style and that it factor.

Goodbye.

SC finally offered, but per USC Scout, he is not an SC lock...hurt feelings that he got offered so late have put Cal ahead of them. But SC is still a major player here of they recruit him hard enough. People on other sites say he's wide open and will give ND a look, but I'm hearing that he wants to stay closer to home. Hope I'm wrong...
