Russell to be released!

Sources: Oakland Raiders getting set to release JaMarcus Russell - ESPN

I just changed my 5 win prediction from written in ink, to written in pencil. First they pick up Jason Campbell(a marked improvement over JRUSS), and now it looks like they are going to cut JRuss. The team is getting better and better with each week that passes. Whats next Al Davis to retire? well, 2 out of 3 isnt bad.

GO Raiders!!!

Russell = Ryan Leaf

Report: Raiders plan to have Russell at minicamp Friday
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 28, 2010 4:41 PM ET
Don't celebrate yet, Raider Nation.

Al Davis' favorite "false rumor monger" (Adam Schefter) reports that the Raiders plan to have Russell attend this weekend's mandatory minicamp. And compete. (Yikes.)

This report directly conflicts with Schefter's co-worker John Clayton, who said the Raiders were preparing to cut Russell.

I mentioned the story to Florio, who has a conspiracy theory that make sense. Perhaps the Raiders don't believe Russell wants to show, and could use his absence as a reason to go after his money.

Either way, it's Russell's move. Looks like we have to hold off that all-time bust debate for now.

Heysus, one of the best decisions of my lifetime (almost on par with deciding to propose to my wife LOL) was when I decided I had had enough with Al Davis and the Raiders. The Rams were my team and I rooted for the Raiders b/c they were Los Angeles, but when the Rams left I gave my heart to the Raiders. And time after time Al Davis made decisions to completely screw the franchise. Since they weren't even from L.A. anymore, I had enough. Sadly, I don't have a pro team to root for b/c there isn't a team in L.A., but I almost relish moments like when they drafted JaMarcus Russell, because I remember what it was like to root for that decrepit old man and I get happy that I no longer have to do it.

They should have never drafted Russell, and they made it worse by hitching their wagon to him and not letting other QBs lead the team who could actually lead them to wins. What a mess of a franchise. Props for sticking to your team Heysus...better you than me LOL.

Russell = Ryan Leaf

for the Biggest bust championship, Russell edges out Leaf by a mile.

JRUSS is guranteed 3mill this year, bringing his career total to 39million, he gets more if he makes the team. I think Leaf had 10million guranteed. I think if you factor in the bang-for-buck element, it clearly surges JRUSS past Leaf.

Ryan Leaf has suffered long enough! Move over rover, theres a new sheriff in town - Grats JRUSS!
:clap:

I have been 'detached' since he chased off Gruden, I knew Al Davis at that point was no longer capable of running a team. (he chased off a great coach, who built the team from nothing) I mean, there was no doubt at that point, even for a life long raider fan. The super bowl broke my heart, i never want to talk about it, I have never watched the highlights and to this day dont know the final score 40something to 20something But I cant seem to set it down; my father has been a fan since '67, i have been a fan since I can remember; my father had season tickets to the raiders while they were in LA. I never had a chance of not being a raider fan. hah

I respect the hell out of that. I have been a Detroit Lion fan my whole life. (wipes tear from eye) My older brother is a Die Hard Raider fan, both franchises have bled together

One day Al Davis will die and you will be surprised at how things can change.

As a passionate fan of hockey growing up in Chicago I had to deal with a similar situation: Bill Wirtz was quite literally the worst owner in professional sports. The Hawks were my team, but its real tough to root for a team that won't even broadcast home games, chases off its best players, and considers the playoffs a huge obstacle to making money.

All it took was for one man to die for things to change. Morbid? Yes. But 22,000 screaming fans packing the United Center for every game this year can't be wrong, right?

As a Chiefs fan, the worst thing that could happen to us is for Al Davis to die, and it's probably the best thing that could happen to the Raiders......I know it's harsh, but it's true.

Someone will sign him.

Why get excited about Jason Campbell though? He isn't very good.

But he has to be better than Russell. Just not sure why they didn't draft a QB.

I'm sure someone will....but why? he shown NO progress since he was drafted and put up some of the absolute worst numbers in nfl starting QB history. Fun Fact: in 2008(i believe) he completed 55 passes to his WR's total. not 55 passes to 1 WR, all WR's combined from him had only 55 completions all year long! If it wasnt for Zach Miller, JRUSS' career completion rate would be like 27%. Whatever team that would take a chance on him, would be better to draft Jeff Samardjia and try to develop him as a QB; Samardjia would put up better numbers than JRUSS.

Ryan Leaf step down my friend, your moniker of 'biggest draft bust' ever has been extinguish by JRUSS.

......Why get excited about Jason Campbell though? He isn't very good. But he has to be better than Russell.....

You already said it, he is better than russell. I'm not saying Jason Campbell is going to make us a super bowl contender, but he blows Russell completely out of the water.

Cutting JRUSS is the best move the raiders could have done; the team got substantially better today.
