Dad and grandpa both graduated from ND, and he used to go to ND games as a kid. Wiltfong reports that he and his family are 'fired up' to go to the spring game...

Hell yeah! Gotta love my fellow St. X brothers! Here's hoping that he gets a scholarship.

Sean Duggan (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) has seen a meteoric rise in his stock the past few months. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound linebacker had a very busy spring.
"Air Force, Arizona, Ball State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Ohio University, Oregon, Vanderbilt, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin have all offered." Duggan said. "All of the schools that have offered me also called during the evaluation period and I also received a phone call from Notre Dame."
While he doesn't have a leader and a few schools are tied, Duggan has narrowed it down to Boston College, Duke, Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Illinois and Minnesota.

... but if ND calls ...

His father and grandfather went here... hmmm.. would be nice to get him on board as a preferred walk on and stay in touch at least if we dont extend an offer at some point... long ways to go yet though. We have gotten a bunch of good ones in the past that have had offers from alot of schools(Freeman, Montana in recent years).

Plus I dont think USC is gonna offer, they are filling up quick this season :p

Sorry IA, not gonna happen. Freeman and Montana did not have the offer lists that Duggan has. Duggan has earned and deserves a D1 scholarship. I tell the same thing to SC fans who think all these 3 star players will want to walk-on to USC, as if paying $50,000 for 4-5 years is worth it to play for your 'dream' school that doesn't think you are good enough for a scholarship while plenty of other schools will offer you a free education and value your abilities. Ain't gonna happen that often at all.

Having great walk-ons is sooooo much tougher at private universities like SC and ND, because to be a regular student is so expensive. It's much easier at cheaper public schools...

I get where you're coming from, but I wouldn't rule it out. I went to the same HS, and turned down a full (academic) scholarship to another good school to go to ND because it was my dream school and I fell in love with the place when I visited. If I were him, I would make the same decision again, and I wasn't even a legacy.

"... alot of schools ..." ???

uh uh

Duggan has offers from the Big East, ACC, SEC, PAC 10 from coast to coast including BC, Michigan, MSU, Cincinnati, Oregon, West Virginia, Wisconsin.

Freeman didn't sign with Northwestern, South Florida, Duke, Ball State, Army, Navy, Air Force or any of the Ivy League programs that offered him a scholarship.

Scout.com: Freeman's Dream Wins Out

Freeman's offers would rank at the bottom half of Duggan's.

Montana had no offers per Rivals and this SI article:

Montana's oldest son to walk on at Notre Dame as quarterback - Arash Markazi - SI.com

Duggan and Flavin both have lots of choices. It would be incredible if either walked-on.

Boston College is Duggan's leader at this point - ESPN

Roger Brown ESPN
8/17

Sean Duggan (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) remains uncommitted, but has trimmed the list of schools he's interested in to five and said Boston College is at the top of that list. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound linebacker said Duke, Michigan, Virginia and Wisconsin are the other schools he's still considering. He's taken unofficial visits to all five schools. "Right now I'd say my favorite is Boston College," said Duggan. "BC's combination of academics and athletics is tremendous. I feel most comfortable with BC right now.

With what we have brought in on the defensive side of the ball, do you think he gets an offer before its all said and done? We've brought in some elite talent on this side of the ball so IMO we dont offer. I just hate to see ANY talent go to a school we play yearly.

No. He's another legacy this year that got caught between limited scholarships and better competition at his position. I welcome any of the three on the team but likewise wouldn't give up any of those that have committed to make it happen.

BC seems to be benefiting most this year from ND's limited scholarships.
