Wait, Lo Wood Sr. is his grandfather? How exactly does that work? Talk about a large age difference between kids...

As a kid my best friend had a sister 22 years older than he was by the same parents. He had a niece and a nephew that were both older than he, their uncle was. His father had two grandchildren older than his son. This wasn't Dueling Banjos country nor the inner city. The burbs of a major metro area. It happens.

Back to Clinton-Dix.

Polish had a typo. Big Lo is his godfather.

Claims no favorites, but he is very close to Lo Wood, and he told ISD that he looks up to Lo.

He's a big, physical DB who is being recruited as a S/CB. He is trying to come up for the spring game. Would be a HUGE get, but is no slam dunk by any means just b/c of his relationship to the Woods...

Our fathers came across the prairie. Fought, Indians, fought drought, fought locusts, fought Dix. Remember when Richard Dix came in here and tried to take over this town.

CrimsonConfidential.com - Clinton-Dix names Tide his leader after Tuscaloosa visit

3/11

Clinton-Dix went to Tuscaloosa last week and was wowed by Saban and the Tide facilities.

I like the campus.Everything is right there. You don't have to walk a mile to get somewhere. The stadium was huge, and I liked it too. The weight room was big, and the indoor facility was something I had never seen before.

After watching Bama Game films he realized his high school plays the same defense so he believes he'll fit in well at either corner or safety. He plays both positions in HS and thinks he can do so at the next level as well.

Bottom line:

Alabama is standing at the top. I'm still wide open, but, as of right now, Alabama is No. 1.

He added that ND is #2.

Per ESPN On the Trail:

Alabama still looking good for Clinton-Dix, five others in the mix
Under Armour All-American safety Hasean Clinton-Dix (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) updated ESPN affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com on the latest surrounding his recruitment.

"I really don't think anyone is going to be able to top Alabama. It's going to be tough, real tough. Florida State, Notre Dame, Florida, USC, and Ohio State are my other favorites right now."

However, he's not sure when a decision will be reached, "It could happen at any time, I really don't know. Whenever I feel comfortable enough that's when it will happen, could be tomorrow, next week, or signing day. I plan on taking a few more visits and seeing some other schools. I'm just looking for that family-team feel. I want to be comfortable in the atmosphere, feel like I'm at home."

Several other programs including Miami-FL, Michigan, Louisville, Cincinnati, South Florida and Texas Tech have also offered.

Yeah, Bama is going to be really tough to beat here. He does have plans on visiting ND for the spring game, providing he doesn't commit to Bama first of course. So we're not completely out of it...

Dr. Phillips RB Dee Hart loved his trip to Alabama and 'may be converted,' but he's open for now
By Chris Hays | Orlando Sentinel

Dee Hart at Alabama: Dr. Phillips RB Dee Hart loved his trip to Alabama and he says he 'may be converted,' but open for now - OrlandoSentinel.com

Dr. Phillips running back Demetrius 'Dee' Hart didn't exactly stick the Crimson flag in his hat after a visit to the University of Alabama on Thursday, but the highly sought Hart saw plenty of things that impressed him in Tuscaloosa.

He took in the campus and a spring practice scrimmage with teammate and best friend Ha'sean "HaHa" Clinton-Dix, who has already said Alabama is on top for him and recently said, "Bama, they're not going anywhere."

We caught up with Hart via text message late Friday night.

"Oh it was a great day. We watched a scrimmage and had a meeting with Coach (Nick) Saban," texted Hart, who left for his Alabama visit with Auburn leading the way among teams pining for his services. "Everyone there was great and I had a blast with HaHa. I may be converted. ...

"Overall it was one of the best colleges, if not the best, I've been to. It's a nice area and campus ... great people and coaches."

Asked who his No. 1 choice is right now and he replied, "Don't have one."

So all of you Auburn and Alabama fans are going to have to watch this saga continue, and Florida fans might start thinking they still have a shot at the coveted running back.

But before everyone starts getting their hopes up, there is still at least one more thing to consider.

"April 12, Michigan," Hart replied to what his next plans are. So he'll add another chapter with a trip to Ann Arbor, where he already has a good friend and former Dr. Phillips teammate Ricardo Miller on the Wolverines' roster.

Miller had committed to Michigan in early 2009 and moved there before the school year in order to attend high school closer to where he'll be going to college. He transferred to Ann Arbor Pioneer High where he played his senior season.

He was unable to coax friend and former teammate Kenny Shaw to join him this year, as Shaw stayed close to home and signed with Florida State. But don't think Hart won't hear the pitch, and Clinton-Dix will hear it as well. The future of Wolverines' coach Rich Rodriguez is a big concern for Michigan prospects. Not many recruits want to commit to a college with a coach in limbo.

Hart actually was very very close to committing to the Wolverines at the end of this past season, but then decided to hold off while he started to take unofficial campus visits. Each school he has seen has had an impact on his considerations. He's been to Florida, Florida State, USF and of course Auburn and Alabama.

So the saga continues with Hart and HaHa's Excellent Adventure. They're having too much fun right now to make any commitments.

Tide lands two big commitments to kick off A-Day (Updated) | al.com

By Gentry Estes, Mobile Press-Register

April 17, 2010, 11:01AM

Clinton-Dix (Scout.com photo)Alabama secured a major 2011 recruiting target this morning with a commitment from Orlando, Fla., defensive back Ha'sean Clinton-Dix.
Long considered a strong Crimson Tide lean, Clinton-Dix was to visit Tuscaloosa this weekend with his mother and a commitment was rumored to be in the works.
Clinton-Dix confirmed to BamaOnline.com's Shane Youngblood that he did commit in person to Alabama coach Nick Saban.
"He was thrilled to hear it," Clinton-Dix said. "He told me that a safety who could play anywhere on the field was one of their top needs in this class, and he told me that he got their man."
Clinton-Dix becomes the seventh prep commitment to the Tide for 2011, and appears to be the highest-rated of the bunch.
Scout.com ranks the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Clinton-Dix as a five-star prospect and the nation's No. 1 safety. The Orlando Sentinel has him as the fifth-best overall prospect in the state of Florida.
He reportedly totalled 93 tackles, 13 for loss, three interceptions, and 9 pass breakups during his junior season at Dr. Phillips High School and held scholarship offers from a number of top national and regional programs, including Florida, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Southern Cal.
Clinton-Dix may not be the only commitment Alabama secures today, as a long list of top prospects are due in Tuscaloosa for the A-Day Game.
------------------------------------
UPDATE -- 12:07 p.m.
And on that note, word is getting out now before kickoff that Auburn High School defensive end LaMichael Fanning has also committed to Alabama.
Fanning (Scout.com photo)Fanning is listed at 6-foot-6, 285 pounds is rated by Scout.com as a four-star prospect and the nation's No. 12 prospect. He has interest from the likes of Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee, in addition to Alabama.
One of Auburn's assistant coaches confirmed the news to BamaOnline.com.
One of the state's top prospects, Fanning was also expected in town for A-Day weekend. He makes the eighth prep commitment for Alabama in 2011.
Is there more coming today?
