You just had to bring up '07 didn't ya? cold shiver runs down GOIRISH!!!'s spine...

07 was sports karma biting me in the ass. Colts and Cardinals won the SB and WS so it had to be re-paid back to me somehow. :(

I have not been less excited for nd football in my life........ not b/c I dislike bk... I think it was a great hire... I just don't see much happening this year... and am tired of having my hopes shit on every year... so I'm completely in a wait and see mode

100% agree, next year will be great.

I'm always excited and completely pumped for every football season. I'm optimistic when I hear how the new practices are being run...

How would I rate my excitement (and my aforementioned homer pick of 10-2)? About an 8.5/10.

I was ultra pumped for 2009 and had my expectations devoured and then regurgitated onto my face (along with some silly bipolar explosions throughout the early season), so I've learned to be wary.

wait and see...but it gets harder to not be excited as time goes on.

first off, I was really disappointed with the intensity, execution, and discipline at various times...this coach seems to not be the makeup to allow it.

Second, I was often left to wonder if schemes were causing folks to think too much...we seemed to play slower than we were on both sides of the ball...now we have a proven college coach who understands the limits that academics and student life place upon these folks and what they can handle. I think he gets it...

I was also worried, and probably said so here that many of the players seemed to treat Notre Dame as the destination...I've read some things Kelly has said that makes me think he saw it too, and he will not allow these guys to be satisfied with simply playing at ND...but rather I think he will foster a culture that humbles some folks, and forces them to measure success and satisfaction by counting wins and NCs while at ND. We can only hope anyway...

So at my core, I've been a pessimist...hell I'll admit Kelly was not my guy in the hiring process...however, the things that I think matter and are signs of what is to come are all positive. There are questions...can he recruit, can he change the culture...can his changes translate to Ws. Look, I'm sure Dickrod looked great until they started getting smacked...So I want to see some Ws to let the guard all the way down.

But I'm hopefull I can take my 1988 smack off moth balls here pretty soon.

I'm excited every season to watch the Irish play, granted it's been a little frustrating lately but I'm a die hard fan thru and thru. I'm overly excited not just for the season to start but watching the program transform like it is now. I think we've all been waiting for this to happen for quite some time, players coaches and fans are getting excited again.....we're definately on our way to a better place, I've always said a teams attitude reflects it's leadership!

Nick Saban's first team at Alabama went 7-6
Lou Holtz's first team at ND went 5-6

In both cases (although neither team lit the world on fire), there were definite changes to the program that were visible enough to the fan bases to see and know that the future of the program was in good hands. I'm hoping that is what I see this year. Even if the 2010 goes 6-6, as long as I see certain changes I think I will be comfortable that Brian Kelly is the right man. However, its also possible that we could finish 8-4 or better and I would still feel uneasy.

I'm in wait and see mode, trying my best not to get my hopes up. I really think that Kelly is the right guy for the job, but I don't think this is a 1 year turn around type situation.

I'm excited simply because I'll be getting back to campus for the first time since the year that will not be mentioned. It's 10 outta 10 every year for me.
